Charles K. Orr: I wanted a wool blanket to replace the USMC surplus blanket I had as a kid sized to fit my mattress.

It’s slightly thinner thickness than expected but considerably softer. It’s a 80/20 wool synthetic blend which probably accounts for the softness. Mind you I’m comparing this to army surplus wool here so your definition of “soft” may vary. It’s just as warm as I remember and is doing a great job as my top-layer fall blanket.

The only real issue I have is the smell which hits me as part lanolin and part acrylic. I expect the lanolin scent to taper off in time but the acrylic compounds I’m curious about. It’s not an awful smell but I’m looking forward to when it’s gone.

Marcus Vollans: Although I haven't used it yet plan to use it on a camping trip this winter. From taking it out of the package it appears very high quality. Like that it's so large too. Might have to order a couple more since the prices so good.

Trev: Really impressed with this. The price is affordable and the quality does not suffer. This thing is warm! Stitching looks excellent. Decent size, used it also folded once for padding in the bottom of my tent. Protects you from getting poked by pine cones or rocks and the cold of the ground.
I will buy a second.

JonJon: I've had several wool blankets from West Point through the years, but those aren't available anymore. I was able to get one of the very last ones, but I that's definitely something I'll have to take extremely good care of now. I bought this blanket as a cheap substitute, something similar that I could use and abuse. Given the cost, I certainly wasn't expecting anything comparable to the West Point blankets, but I was still pleasantly surprised. The wool is nowhere near the same quality, and it's probably just a little thicker, perhaps to compensate. Overall, it's plenty heavy enough; it's soft; and the stitching seems to be well done. I'm quite satisfied.

April G.: I took this blanket camping as an extra layer for the top on a pretty cold night. Ended up ditching the sleeping bag and just using this. Now I will keep in my car as an emergency blanket. Even if wool is damp it is still warm. I haven't had a really good wool blanket for a long time.

Sean Leonhardt: As a tall man, I appreciate the length. This blanket is thin but warm and pretty light. I originally bought 2 for camping with the wife and kids but now they are used on the bed and couch too. I will definitely be buying more when the kids get older.

Sunny: Bought 2 for emergency blankets, once I opened it I loved it so much will be using in the house to keep warm over the winter. I’m sensitive to smell and touch. The blanket did have a bit of a smell to it but not awful after a few days out of the bag. Very happy with our purchase.

J Saz: Wool blanket with nice heavy feel to it. Not very soft. Wife finds it too scratchy to be a comfy blanket when you're just wearing shorts and a tee shirt underneath. She prefers soft and fuzzy. This is the kind of blanket you can throw on the ground and have a picnic on.

Josh E: I love the smell of lanolin. I'm frustrated I can't find products that retain a good lanolin scent because all companies try to refine the smell out. A freshly cleaned and new bedding filled stable with clean animals meant a successful day and healthy animals so new, clean (not old odor build up) animal smells are not bad to me. I can understand the people who say it smells like a barnyard and why they may find it unappealing if they didn't grow up around animals but I never understood the people who say wool smells like chemicals.

Well after this blanket now I do.

My cheap ~$12 50% wool blankets I got for the dogs to use smell like clean lanolin. If only lightly due to how much polyester is in them. My 90% wool ektos brand blanket I have been using to keep warm in my drafty 1800s farmhouse smells wonderful. I wish the smell wasn't fading so I've already been looking at ways to spray it down with new lanolin and fabric refresher in place of washing options. Unfortunately ektos warns in their listing that even their 100% wool blankets are rough and suggest having a layer between you and the blanket. My one attempt to sleep with it resulted in waking up to the...
