Thunder Fish: I bought a thermopile from another supplier,its output was under 700 millivolts,my gas valve is 30 years or more older,did not work,this one shows it has been tested by the bluing on it and out puts 784 millivolts,gas valve liked it !

I got the name brand and part number of the package and looked on Amazon. I bought this one which is the EXACT same one, form the same company, for $12.99! If you can change it out yourself buy this. It works just like the original one.

Kindle Customer: Installed on a gas fireplace with a White-Rodgers valve. Four years ago I installed a Honeywell Thermopile CQ200A-1004 which fit perfectly in the OEM bracket. As other reviewers have warned this Mensi Thermopile is a little fat. OEM was 11/32; This one is 23/64. I was able to drill out the bracket to make room for the fatter Mensi. Not certain if you would want to do this on an internal mount like water heater etc. I hope this one lasts for awhile.

jimmy smits: I ordered this product online when i figured out that it was the problem with my gas fireplace. would not stay lit and would not fire up. Received very quickly in perfect condition, I installed it in about 30 minutes and fireplace fired up immediately and is still working great after a month or so. this product was a perfect replacement for the OEM. I saw a few competing products online and they were less money but I decided on this one even though it was a little higher price. it seemed to be the best quality and it is working great.

AGAG: Used it to rebuild Rheem performance platinum water heater pilot assembly. Off the shelf the brass sleeve at the back of the thermocouple body is too thick and cannot fit the pilot assembly tube. I had to grind 0.45mm of the sleeve diameter. The good news is the crown fits perfectly and the length of the body when inserted is almost exact. The result can be seen on the attached picture and the rebuilt pilot assembly works with the common Honeywell gas valve just fine. Note that the piezo igniter never fails and Rheem sells the complete assembly for $250. Of course, you can buy OEM from amazon for about $65 but I thought 15min of tweaking is worth it.

To grind the brass sleeve uniformly, put the thermocouple body in a drill chuck, hold a piece of 120 grit sandpaper with the other hand and turn the drill at about 50 rpms. It will take about 8-10 min to grind the sleeve sufficiently.

Foster Family: Pilot light on our Napoleon BGD36NTR fireplace would not stay lit for more than a few hours. After some internet research decided to replace thermocouple and thermopile. A little fiddly to replace because of limited space to get a wrench in but ultimately got replaced ina couple of hours work. Part seems to be a perfect replacement and fireplace now works perfectly.
