Yes the instructions could be better, but if you look at the parts there was only one way to do it. I found it to be easier to assemble by putting the chain and bar on in the vertical position. Slap the cover on then tighten the orange bolt. The tension adjustment is too steep. If it were a gradual increase I don't think it would loosen as often as it does. Yes the chain starts to rattle when it is getting loose. I just make it really tight. I used vegetable oil, more environmentally friendly, but keep it nearby because it uses a lot.

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: I'm pretty handy with tools / equipment so I was frustrated with the challenge of figuring out how to fasten the chain bar to the saw (I had to refer to the manual several times). Unless one is determined or really needs a chainsaw right now, I can see why one might give up and send it back.
Once it got it together though, I was very impressed. I have gas chain saws that require constant maintenance and fuel. We have giant fir & cedar trees here that loose branches every year, so for $49 I just wanted a little saw for my spring cleanup.
However, this year after one of our cedar trees fell, in a wind storm, I decided to cut it into lumber to build our grandkids a fort to play in. I would not recommend a first time chainsaw user do this but I put this electric saw to work, slicing the tree into long boards. As you can see it did the job.
Note: The knob that holds the chain bar onto the saw vibrated loose several times, causing the chain to loosen up and the case to fill with sawdust. I had to take it apart to clean and reassemble each time. Checking it often helped but for this reason I'm giving it 4 stars for easy to use and 3 stars for assembly. I got my $49...

Deborah S Rushing: My son used it to cut down two fairly large crepe myrtle trees. He said it was easy to assemble and operate. The cutting was quick and much easier than he had anticipated. We are glad to have it, as we have a couple of large, old trees which occasionally drop large limbs in storms. The city requires limbs be cut to a certain length. We have always had to have someone come over and cut them for us. Now we can do it ourselves. Also, THE PRICE IS RIGHT!! It would have cost several times what we paid for this chainsaw to have someone cut these trees for us. Highly recommend.

Marc "Marco" Beneteau: I needed a saw to cut firewood at my non-electric campsite or boondocking. I considered a battery model (same price) but bought this instead and am SO glad. My other chainsaw is 15A and does everything I need at home, and this functions exactly the same except slower, with the tremendous advantage that it runs great from my car's 1500W pure-sine inverter (I run the engine while using it and have a hack to keep the engine idling at higher RPM. Also don't try running an electric motor on an inverter that is not pure-sine). Battery chainsaws WILL cut 3-4" branches, but this gets through a 12" log in a minute or two. and smaller logs in seconds. Installation will take you 2 minutes if you know what you are doing, if not read the manual, its not difficult. Well-done, Maxlander. They have a 15A model as well that is very competitively priced as well, that would be my go-to if I was looking for a more powerful one.

Ted killen: Didn't expect this chainsaw to perform like it did. It was easy to assemble, comfortable to use, and reliable. It wouldn't be a great purchase for really large jobs because of its size.
