Donna: This is one I think I missed and purchased on a Kindle sale . I just read the sample and was hooked. Always filled with excellent characters, southern charm, interesting locations and a good story line, Mary Kay Andrews never disappoints!

Marcy M.: I did enjoy reading this, but.....very poor editing/proofreading.
One paragraph ends with their paying in a restaurant. The next paragraph starts with Tee turning down the radio [in the car].
Boxes of books obscure a closet door; however, Dempsey was able to carry said books to a car in 3 trips.
Dempsey used an "electric screwdriver." Makes one visualize a screwdriver with an electric cord coming out the handle. A power driver perhaps? (does not look like a screwdriver to those who don't know)
Many instances of lower case used in business names, as well as a person's name.
The first time she wore makeup while in GA was going out with Jimmy - except when she met with the FBI previously.
Once you get past these types of errors, the story was fun, if predictable. The ending could have been slightly expanded IMO. I would have given it 3.5 stars truthfully.

Websy: I liked it but its not my favorite story. The ending....well felt both rushed and incomplete if that makes any sense.

DAN L.: Love her characters and plots. Predictable but fun. MK is a 400+ page writer. Gives her time to develop characters so you end the novel wanting more. Her 200+ novels are okay but they leave one wanting a lot more and feeling a little cheated. Most of us over forty and more relate to the characters. We want to go to the CC and dance to Johnny Mathis. I met MK in July when I was renting a beach house and haven’t stopped reading. This may be my last one unless she hurries and writes another — 400+ pages, please.

Lowcountry girl: I always enjoy Mary Kay's books especially since I'm a Georgia girl. In Mary Kay's world, all Republicans are scum, all gays are saints, her women characters never use sex and love in the same sentence and anyone who goes to church is a whacko, mean spirited hypocrite of the highest order. So our Mary Kay is a card carrying liberal of the highest order but I love her books and try not to get too turned off by her one way street thinking and view of the world. Her women while they often like to be in the kitchen they never eat, they always get right up to eating but it somehow never gets into their mouth..unless it's her fave Starbuck's which substitutes for food.

I really liked this book but wish she would have gone into more depth of why her parents both abandoned her whether mentally or physically and why Dempsey didn't much have any feelings about it she just went with the flow. I had a stepmother like that and it was far harder to deal with than we are led to believe in the book. Also, so why did her mother abandon her exactly? It was these thin fleshings out of the past that sort of left me wanting. Also, how could her mother leave her yet again on the most dangerous...
