Robert Mitchell: I am delighted with the purchase of my Marcy Regenerating Magnetic Recumbent ME706. I am 70 years old and live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I needed the bike to increase my activity level due to painful knees from osteoarthritis and to help me with weight loss. I am gradually increasing my daily riding time and can already feel improvement in my leg strength. The bike was easy to assemble. I like all the programs the bike offers and especially like how comfortable the seat is and how quiet the bike is. I simply love this bike. I highly recommend it.

Steve: Just got this assembled you took my first ride. The bike is quiet, smooth and sturdy. I was looking for something without all the Bluetooth/app bells and whistles and this fits the bill perfectly. It's still plenty sophisticated with all the programs built in, more than I'm likely to take advantage of. There's a lot of assembly and they recommend a helper, I did not use one but probably should have given that I have a bad back and carried all the pieces in myself. Instructions are accurate though somewhat incomplete, just be sure you connect the wires at each junction that has any since they're not always mentioned.
I'm very happy with the purchase. I did not experience any of the initial issues with the display that some others have noted in their reviews, perhaps the manufacturer is partially charging the battery now before shipping. The only complaint if I had to voice one is that despite the megapackaging, somehow one of the metal parts left a crease in the seat cushion. I'm hoping this will vanish with time and use but if not it's really no big deal.

TJG: The bike is perfect for me and <$400 is fair. I was sure this was a totally new unit until I saw the wear on the transport wheels. Still, it is in excellent condition and had I not seen it; I'd assume it was originally factory sealed still. The seat has a mild wobble if you aren't stabilizing yourself with any of the handles; but, I think I can rig it not to with a little ingenuity.
It is quite comfortable for being a bike. I recommend watching the assembly video in 5 second chunks while putting the bike together. As you unpack the box, you may be intimidated, but the video is accurate in it's depiction of easy assembly. There are a couple sections where you will need to remove screws only to replace this affixed to a new piece. The black slider guard comes as one piece that you will have to separate by unscrewing it apart. I assumed it was snapped together and noticed the screws after trying to pry it apart. the screws are deep within the plastic and not easily noticeable.
The screen, AFAIK, will not stay on unless you are actively peddling (that may not be the case, It just seems like it so far).
Overall I'm happy I added this to my home gym. It compliments my Marcy...

Lumberjack: Just so you know, when you receive this item, the box is quite heavy. It is not easily moved by one person without an aid of some sort, such as a dolly. Assembly was time consuming but not difficult. The directions were a bit lacking in places, but with some head scratching and common sense, they were adequate.

Once assembled I had only one issue. The workout program I chose to work with uses the pulse rate to automatically adjust the resistance. For some reason the sensors in the handle seemed to not pick up my pulse rate very well. It would work for a bit, then quit working, then start again. I thought that there was possibly some residue from the manufacturing process on the sensors. I wiped them well but it made no difference.

It seemed that once I grabbed onto the handles and did not remove my hands at all, things worked better. However, if I removed my hands to wipe my face and then grabbed the handles again, continuity was hit and miss. I have since began to wipe the sensors after every workout and I do not remove my hands once I start exercising. By doing this everything seems to be working well. I guess the bottom line is to not take your hands off the...

BLAIR: Bike went together OK and seems of decent quality, just started using it though. I did see some people saying their console wouldn't stay on unless they were pedaling. I had the same issue so I popped the battery cover off the back of the console (where the two wires come out and clip together) and sure enough there were only 3 batteries, one had popped out and fallen down into the console. Took the console back off, tilted it around until I got the battery out, put the 4 batteries in place correctly, now it works fine, stays on after a 3 mile ride. the batteries don't snap in place very well so I would recommend checking this when you are assembling the bike.

EN: The bike was well packaged (Marcy Regenerating Recumbent ME-706). Took about 2-1/2 hours to put together. Instruction were adequate. The illustrations should be a bit larger. There was a small scratch on the main unit like a previous reviewer stated. It seems one of the parts caused this. They should look into it. Also for me it was clear where the two wires go but not explained in the instructions. It's the battery connection. If you pop open the small box on the back of the control unit, you will see 4 lithium batteries. They can pop out of place causing some of the issues mentioned. Time will tell.

stu: Overall it's been a great experience. As far as assembly was concerned, it was fairly easy. It did help to have it elevated to about waste level or so to do some of the work. Like with most things, the first time you do something there's a learning curve. We bought two of them so the second one was a little bit easier to put together. Having two people or more did help. I think the average person wouldn't have too much trouble. If you are completely non-mechanically inclined, it would be better to have some help while doing it. As far as using the bike, I do like the fact that you don't have to plug it in, and also I don't. It's convenient not to have to plug it in because you can put it wherever you like, but,... if you slow down just a little too much you could lose all your exercise info, like how long you've been exercising, calories You've burned, how many miles you've ridden etc. It has good overall comfort, and is very sturdy. Personally I prefer leaving the foot straps off so that it's easy access to all kinds of footwear. I haven't used them since I started using the machines, and my foot has never slipped off. There are only two things I don't like about it. One is the...

Doug E.: The assembly instructions are good mostly, however the computer had two small wires that had nowhere to plug them in on the frame. The instructions showed only the multipin connector and a jack & socket connector. They did not even show the other wires in the assembly illustration.
Each of these wires had a small connector, one male, the other female so I plugged them together and finished the assembly.

The machine works great but the bottom seat is too far ahead of the backrest and is very uncomfortable. I'm recovering from a knee replacement and find it way too hard on the back of the thighs when extending your leg out. May need to do something with this to make it work for me. Modify the seat mounting brackets likely.

The model I have is self generating, no batteries. BUT as I begin to pedal, the screen lights up and I can select a progam, HOWEVER, when I pause pedalling for more than 2 seconds, the screen goes black. When I pedal again, the program is gone and it has defaulted back to select program mode?

I spoke to customer service who had no idea about the unlisted wires coming from the computer and also said I have to pedal for at least 10...

John Froese: Delivery was only about 2 weeks which is quite surprising for the Christmas rush. I think it is good value for the money. The magnetic resistance is not as good as a heavy flywheel but it's still a good product and functions well with a better display and options than other bikes in this price range. Not quite as good as the bikes in a public gym which cost 2-3x as much, but reasonably close.

I'll be
