Rikaard: As most gamers will tell you, automatic shufflers are dangerous for your cards and more often than not jam if your cards are sleeved (which could lead to serious damage to your cards.) Hand cranked models are thus much safer.

I was about to return this model, frustrated it would not shuffle sleeved cards (63.5mm by 88mm) from several of my games with large sleeved decks that constantly have to be reshuffled.

Two things you need to do to make it work:

1. Finding the right brand of sleeves for me made a difference, the one brand of sleeves that consistently work the best for me are Mayday Games sleeves.. other brands I had were much more difficult to use in this device. Try experimenting with different types of sleeves, don't get discouraged if one manufacturer of sleeves doesn't work-- another might!

2. place any D battery on the top of each pile to place some weight on the sleeved cards-- this also helps to ensure it works about 9 out of 10 times.

Yes it will still get stuck once in awhile, but since you can control the shuffle manually, the minute it locks up you stop and save yourself from damaging your cards.

Hope this helps!

delicateflower152: My six-year old granddaughter loves to play a family card game, but neither she or I are able to shuffle cards. When Papa began to complain about having to shuffle for everyone, I decided to search for a card shuffler. The "Manual Card Shuffler" was reasonably priced and, after looking at several reviews discussing its drawbacks, I decided to give it a try.

We found this unit works best if you divide your deck into two equal halves. You need to run the cards through the shuffler twice for a good mix. We did discover that Kem Cards, the plastic playing cards, are too slick to feed through the shuffler easily. However, since we do not play bridge with our grandchildren, this is not a detractor.

I recommend the "Manual Card Shuffler" for anyone having children who need an adult to shuffle cards or for thos who have hand issues such as arthritis or paralysis.

JohnnyEgo: My son is young and lacks the dexterity to shuffle his Pokemon cards, but is old enough to be embarrassed by having his Dad do it for him at the card game competitions. I bought four of this sort of shuffler from various vendors. They are all very similar in appearance and action. This was the only one that was wide enough to accommodate my son's sleeved Pokemon cards.

Unsleeved cards work well enough in all the shufflers, and they work fine 80% of the time in this one, too. If the cards are not evenly distributed into two stacks, or if they are not well aligned to the feed wheel and slot on one side, you end up with a bunch of unshuffled cards on the top. This happens more frequently with the sleeves; one side will not quite clear the slot, while the other side keeps feeding. I have showed my son how to square the cards up, look for the signs of one-sided shuffling, and apply light pressure when need be to ensure even feeding. It isn't perfect, but none of these things are. It works well enough for the job, and my son is happy with it, despite the limitations for our purpose.

Z: I'm giving this 4 stars because I just got it. Over time I might change it to a 5.
I have run several different types of cards through it. It performs best with cards that have some kind of texture or finish on them. My Da Vinci Harmony backs and Bicycle Ellusionists were the best. It shuffled 120 cards in about half a second, and when I checked through the stack, it was a perfect alternating distribution. It works fairly quietly and hasn't given me any serious issues.
CCGs' cards, like Magic and Pokemon, work fine. Sleeved cards are finicky - you need tight-fitting sleeves, or the little divit in the wheel that grabs the edge of the card won't be able to gain purchase. Toploaders are out of the question. Even if you have odd-sized, rigid cases that will fit in this thing, they're too thick, and will collide with each other as they try to slide into place. I really recommend this machine best for unsleeved cards.
Spanish cards, like Maya's Barajas, and the cards from Friday (board game) are slightly too tall to fit in. If you were really dedicated, you could use a heat gun to expand the plastic just a bit, and then they would work. But as-is, they won't.
