Cathy C.: Very pleased with this shuffler. Maybe not the heaviest duty materials, but great for family use.

Roger: When attempting to use the shuffler, it doesn't grrab the cards from the sides to mix together properly, too weak.

Ralph AndersenRalph Andersen: I bought this same unit about a year ago but just started using recently. It failed very quickly. A white gear came out of the inside. Being someone who voided the warranty of all his childhood toys, I recognized it was a drive gear from one of the electric motors. Unit is easy to disassemble so I put the gear back on shaft and it was back in action for a short time. Then that side quit working as the shaft was spinning inside the gear I installed. No matter of super glue, JB weld, etc would lock it in place until the gear just flat broke. (inside the battery compartments the 4 screws in the recessed holes take the top off, the other 2 per side hold the units that do the shuffling in place).
I looked around but did not find any other shuffler of interest. It's basically this unit from the dozen different sellers or the hand crank one. Having a shuffler for canasta is just very helpful. Due to the low price I figured I'd buy a second or even third one so I'd have spare parts and keep one in action.
I was happy right away to see this unit has some visible differences, the rubber wheels that grab the cards are about half the diameter of my old one. This unit is also noticeably...

J. Alder: We play a card game that uses four decks of standard playing cards. For many months we had been using a manually cranked two-deck shuffler. It worked (until the crank broke), but it was inconvenient for shuffling four decks. So we thought we'd try this four-deck shuffler. We were expecting something that would shuffle as well, but handle all four decks at once.

- It only barely handled four decks. The motors slowed audibly as they tried to jam the last few cards into the collector.
- It frequently had cards tipped on edge in the collector, which would then keep the cards that followed from lying flat in the collector. We had to extract the tipped cards before continuing to shuffle.
- We had to have someone apply pressure to the edges of the cards in the hoppers to get reasonable flow of cards into the collector. Otherwise one hopper tended to stall while the other hopper stuffed its cards into the collector. Not really a "shuffle".
- The cards actually were not well shuffled. There tended to be a batch of cards from one hopper, then the other, and it continued alternating in this manner. This was apparent when drawing cards from the shuffled deck in the next...

fwoom: I purchased this little unit to help shuffle large decks like SkipBo, as when playing, I have to shuffle multiple times, and I wanted to protect the cards from getting bent.

This little card shuffler isn't terrible. But I've noticed a few things: 1) It works decently well, but sometimes flips a few cards over so they're facing up instead of down. This isn't a big deal to me, because it doesn't happen often and it's always only 3-4 cards at most when it does happen. 2) I've noticed it starting to mar my cards a little. I bought this specifically to save my cards, not damage them! I'm disappointed in that. 3) It's louder than I think it should be.

All of that said, it really does its job well for the most part. It was an inexpensive unit (~$12 when I bought it), so for the price, it's not bad, I guess. I am not sure I'd buy this one again, but I don't hate it. I'll keep using it unless it really starts to damage my cards or unless I see a better-rated product at a price I'm willing to pay.

Ben: - It's under $10 so you can't really complain too much.
- It clearly says on the directions (which appear printed on a home printer) that you need 4 C batteries. I was not happy about that since I had ordered AA batteries and thought I had this set up and good to go for our poker game. Please change the product description!
- It is very loud!
- about 5% of the time a card will be flipped upside down
- about 15-25% of the time a few cards will get stuck on either side (we didn't notice at first and realized that we had played a few hands without 52 cards. this is really bad if you play with identical decks)
- you need to put it in 4-5 times (cutting each time) to get a good shuffle. We tested this by putting all 52 cards in sequential and suit order.

We were playing texas hold'em so only used 1 deck at a time and split it half on each side. We ended up shuffling manually after a while. Too often, the cards get stuck on the side instead of being piled on the deck nicely. Also the noise was getting annoying for everyone. Good product for <$10 but even just adding the cost of C batteries (pretty cheap), I am regretting my purchase a little bit. This would be 2...
