Big Al: Love it! Chops wood just like a chain saw. I trimmed 3 big trees and cut all the branches into firewood. No issues. Performing better than expected. It does go thru batteries so have 4 or 5 spares.

J Malachow: Can’t say enough good things about this chainsaw. Its amazingly easy to use! What usually would take me days to do with a pair of loppers I got done in 20 minutes. And I wasn’t sore the next day. Being small and now older female, I am no longer able to wield a gas powered chainsaw or even start one. I will now be able to get back to helping when we fell trees by cutting all the branches and limbs off. Not keeping the power button on when not actively cutting, the battery lasted about the same as a gas powered chainsaw of the same size. Nice not having to wear ear protection and inhaling exhaust fumes!

BShade: I am very happy with little ripper. It fits great in a backpack and can do a lot of work on one 6ah battery. I mostly use it for down limbs but have cut down a whole standing dead 8" white birch with it. For a little saw its pretty powerful.

KH Misc.: This saw is a pleasure to use. It hits a real sweet spot of size, weight, handling, power, and speed.

For comparison, I also own the 36 volt Husqvarna T536LiXP, which is a great saw, and gets high praise in reviews among professionals for good reason.

This Makita weighs about 7Lbs 1oz with oil and battery. The T536LiXP weighs about 9lbs 11oz with oil and battery. I wanted something lighter than the Husqvarna for climbing, and for brush clearing in awkward situations (like on steep slopes). This Makita weighs 28% less than the Husqvarna, and is perfect for both those things.

When cutting softer/green material the Makita easily cuts as fast as the Husqvarna. The Husqvarna has a chain speed of 3,950 feet per minute, and the Makita has chain speed of 4,720FPM. So where torque isn't an issue the Makita shines. Even in 3-4" softer wood the Makita glides through it FAST. In hard dry wood ca 3" and larger is where the difference in power between the two saws becomes apparent. If I am going to do much cutting of that size I will use the Husqvarna.

The Makita has a subtle soft start, which is pleasant, unless I am doing some fast limbing, in which case it can...

Vicki: Adding the Makita cordless 10” chainsaw to our collection was a great idea Our wood pile held lots of small diameter limbs plus some second hand timber from an old building I used it for ease of handling and fast cutting I’m 61 and a grandma, I could operate the tool with one hand the timber with the other I have trouble pull starting the petrol chainsaw and it is now too heavy for me for the smaller jobs PLUS I can always have spare batteries on the go with fast charging during breaks So win sin for me !!😀

Daryl: I love this saw (XCU06Z)!

It's light enough that I can handle it with one hand, but easily cuts through 3-4" branches (I haven't tried it on anything bigger, but no reason to expect it will have trouble).

A little assembly is required, but it's easy. You will need chain saw oil, so be prepared for that. I think they should have included a little starter bottle.

I also have a corded electric chainsaw, but I bought this new one to reach a tree in the far back end of my yard where a cord wouldn't reach. I'll probably sell the other saw now; this one is just too convenient.

After cutting maybe 20 1-2" branches and a couple of 4" branches, the 2 Ah battery was at 3 out of 4 lights. So if you have a lot to do you might prepare an extra battery. You could get a much larger battery, though that would make it heavier. I'd rather have a spare 2 Ah than a single 4 Ah.

On the negative side, they include a carrying bag with the saw, but it's not big enough for the saw with the blade attached. You would have to take the blade off to put it in the bag and then re-assemble it at the job site. Not very useful.

The box arrived pretty beat up and it looked...

Michael Hollenbeck: This little saw cuts like a charm. Perfect for the small firewood projects and property cleanup. My family often goes to the lake and campfires are a big thing. This saw makes cleaning up dead wood a snap. Love it. Love it.
