This is our first ice cream maker and we think it works very well! We wanted something without the fuss of adding ice and/or rock salts. It's easy to assemble, use and clean. It's noisy though! (I'm not sure if this is typical of ice cream makers). You don't need ear plugs by any means but don't try to take a nap while you ice cream is freezing. ;)
So far we made two batches, one with coconut milk and the other with regular milk and heavy cream. The batch with coconut milk (butter pecan) only took about 25 minutes to make and the batch with real milk (mint chip) took 40 minutes. Both batches came out like soft serve, but the instructions tell you that is what you should expect. You should not buy this expecting hard ice cream, at least not until you freeze the mixture after it has been made. Both mixtures did freeze a bit to the sides of the walls and to the bottom of the freezer bucket while the inside stayed more soft serve like, but not a significant amount. Both batches turned out delicious and, as I stated before, the leftovers turned into even more of an ice cream consistency after freezing.

Mine is broken. The paddle will spin in the air, but put it in a thick ice cream mixture liquid In the cold bowl and the it won't spin one full rotation. It just goes back and forth. It tires, but fails. The paddles spins by hand fine. Maybe my motor is defective? Maybe my ice cream is too thick (but it tastes damn good once I hand turn the paddle for 20 mins)

I love it! it's easy to work and it makes just enough for 4, so there is not a lot of left over to get freezer burn. I actually have had to pack up Ice cream for family to take home, they ask me to make it when they come, so I put the inside freezable compartment into the Freezer the night before just in case. When I make it for my husband and myself I leave the ice cream in it and it thaws over 2 days but the ice cream stays creamy for the whole time. Also it comes with some recipes for the basic vanilla and chocolate, then you add what ever you want. It was so simple and ice cream is ready in 20 min...Yum! if you love ice cream you will love this and since you make it your self you know what you are eating is whole, good food.

I've only used this machine once and so far so good. I suggest using at least some milk product in your base as a water base freezes solid to the sides. It was so hard on the sides but still soupy in the middle. But that's just a part of learning how something works and should not be seen as a problem with the machine.
My only complaint was I received a previously used machine. Shipping carton was perfect but the product box was smashed on several of the corners, the unit was scratched in several places which couldn't have happened in shipping, there were marks on the canister exactly where the paddle scrapes on the inside and there was a little bit of product residue from the previous use. As always, Amazon came through and immediately shipped me a new product and all was well. I would definitely recommend this product
