Cuisinart ICE-21PK Frozen Yogurt, Ice Cream, and Sorbet Maker

Amazon Customer: I was a little hesitant purchasing an ice cream
maker as my last one broke. After reading. Lots of reviews. I settled on this one. I've been very pleased with this machine! I have made a few batches and had great success with everyone! The only downside is the container doesn't make a very large quantity at once.

kittycat: This little machine works great and I've made ice cream many times. It's nice to be able to add the ingredients you want in ice cream and not have that awful locust bean gum or carrageenen or other nasty gums they use in ice cream.

Kat Daniels: Soooooo CUTE! This makes way too much icecream for just myself and my daughter but we are newbies to the artisanal icecream world. We assembled the freezing cold inner tube thing with the lid and the churned, Pulled a can of coconut milk from the fridge and shook it up, added a splash of vanilla, a pinch of salt and some maple syrip, and 10 minutes later we had delicious homemade icecream. Honestly this is a dream - I’m looking forward to trying new recipes and having a healthier special treat while making memories with my LO.

In terms of cleaning since there are only 4 parts to the whole unit it’s quite simple. I was able to rinse and wash the paddle immediately and let the inner tube soak, but in hindsight I could have boiled water to just get it over with lol. Anyway it’s a nice treat and I will consider getting an official “spare icecream” tub rather than our empty Yogurt container 😅.

That part is on me. Part of the neglect of use is that the bowl takes up a lot of room in my freezer. Part of it is that I was pretty unimpressed with the coconut milk ice cream. It was super hard and icy. Was hoping to save money over buying pricy non-dairy frozen treats. Lol, joke’s on me.

monica pratt: I'm so happy with my choice of ice cream maker. So far I've made the most AMAZING ice creams (rum with salted caramel swirl, strawberry ice cream, my ultimate fav. ice cream which is licorice (to die for!), and passion fruit mango sorbet which was also killer. Takes about 20 minutes for the ice cream to thicken then just pop it in a container and in the freezer. Highly recommend this awesome machine. Love the pink color too.

Voracious Reader: I read the reviews carefully before selecting this machine. My machine arrived in perfect condition and sooner than expected. I cleaned the drum and put it in the freezer 24 hours. It was frozen solid when I used it and my ice cream came out perfect. My husband couldn't quit raving about it and how much better it tasted than store bought!

It was rated highly but there were some one star ratings that said it wasn't powerful enough to thicken the ice cream and because the drum did not get cold enough to freeze the ice cream.

Churning Issues
I believe that people complaining that it is not powerful enough to churn the ice cream should revisit their recipe. I found that when I put too much heavy whipping cream into the mix, it thickens really quickly and machine seems to be straining. When I used the proper mix of heavy whipping cream and milk, I didn't have that problem and the ice cream came out nice and smooth. Also, every ice cream maker creates a soft serve type consistency. If you want it to firm up, you need to dip it out of the drum and put it in the freezer for an hour or so. Also don't put bits of fruit or nuts into the churning mixture. Wait until after the...

CrazyAboutBooks: Update: I tried to use this ice cream maker a few days ago and it wouldn't freeze my recipe. Since other items in freezer were frozen, I assumed the freezer bowl had stopped working so I posted a negative portion to my review. When I buy a pound of bacon, I roll each slice like a jelly roll and freeze the rolls. They don't take up so much room that way and they thaw in a couple minutes. So I put a tray of rolled bacon in the freezer and it didn't freeze. True bacon has a high fat content but in a zero degrees freezer, the bacon should freeze. So on Amazon I hopped and bought two fridg/freezer thermometers to check the temp in my freezer. I wanted two so that if they were near the same temp then I'd feel they were working okay (then I'd have one for the fridge). Turns out my freezer had warmed up to 21 degrees according to one themometer and 22 to the other (I can live with a one degree difference since it isn't possible to put both thermometers in the same exact location in freezer)....
