I used this for a science experiment. You get more voltage with Mg/Cu than Zn/Cu. It will oxidize (darkens) over time but you can sand that off

Really hard to shave off chunks because of its small size. And I use a mora garberg with a sharp a$$ spine to try and shave it. It is magnesium tho, so when you do get enough of those bigger pieces it works great.
