Magimix 4200XL Professional-Grade Food Processor

Topper: I have used Maggie mix before they are the best processes on the market. I feel I tried other ones but they never match up Magi Mix is very easy to use. Blades very sharp Does a really good job and very quiet not as noisy some others I recommend to anybody who enjoys baking and cooking. They are on the expensive side, but you pay for what you get, and I believe as your mix is one of the best
The base is quite heavy, easy to clean the standard procedure for cleaning any food processor follow manufacturers guidelines.

jiwva: I purchased this direct from Magimix and I'm beginning to regret it. I had in mind a food processor with 3 separate bowls...that you could use individually, depending on the recipe and use required.. Unless I'm missing the trick, it "nest" has to be used with all the bowls stacked in each other. Very noisy and, being the muscular machine it is, it's a little like restraining a bucking bronco. I think I'll like very much all the various slicing blades but not the "family" requirement. If things resolve, I'll gladly upgrade the review.
***RE-REVIEW. Read the instructions over and over, OJT with book in hand. And now I'm really happy with it. Discs for each and every choice, love the choice of 3 size bowls with only 1 base. I only barely made the under-counter height requirement, so be sure to measure that and consider when ordering. You *won't* want to haul it around from another cabinet let aong another room!

John Ford: This replaced a much loved but positively ancient Magimix 4100 which was still going strong except that the plastic bowls were cracking (again) and difficult to source. I had already replaced the bowls and the blades to give it a new lease of life so It was hard getting rid of it and buying a replacement.

We looked at other makes but having had mixers and food processors that didn't last long it before buying our 4100, it had to be another Magimix.

The food processor works very well but it definitely seems a lot noisier than our old model. The blades bang and rattle about on the spindle, which I don't recall happening so much with the old one. When using the pulse function the motor starts and stops with a very loud 'crashing' sound and causes the relays on my Computer's UPS to click in sympathy with the presses of the button. Again, I don't remember that happening with the old one.

In some ways it is better and in some ways it is worse. More versatile, I guess especially with the different sized feed chutes but that makes an awful lot of washing up when you don't have a dish washer.

Lily-Rose: I had one of these for 15 years, before making the bad decision to try an alternative mixer and giving my old faithful to a colleague. The replacement (a well known brand) was a disaster - nothing worked like I had been used to with my magimix. I sold it as soon as I could as I had to get another magimix. Now I am back in heaven. It does everything - mixing, chopping, grating, easy to use, easy to clean, a reliable device which does exactly what I want. I don’t need any additional devices!

I. Giles: This Magimix Food Processor has become one of the most regularly used cooking essentials in our lives. There isn't a day that goes by without some form of use and all the features get used over time with the exception of the dough blade. That is simply because we make regularly make bread with a bread maker and there is no obvious use for this dough blade at this time.

The Magimix Food Processor tools that we use are all extremely well designed, well made and reliable. A useful and neat container for the extra tools is supplied. In terms of reliability, the only Magimix item that we have owned and that has ever needed some sort of attention has been a seal in the completely separate Liquidizer. Although that was out of guarantee the replacement parts were supplied free of charge and delivery by return of the phone call.

It would take an unnecessary amount of time to detail each item in this highly flexible machine as the conclusion in every case would be one of complete and uncompromised satisfaction.

Suffice it to say that in the event of a breakdown during its working life I would expect to rectify it with the manufacturer with minimum...

Lion Heart: I had high hopes for this food processor, especially because of the promise that it can be cleaned in a dishwasher. That is true but every use means cleaning too many parts - the bowl that I used, the main bowl (because splashes of food get down to the main bowl) the plastic lid, the XL pusher, the double pusher (two parts) and of course the blades. I have a wide dishwasher and still cannot fit all these parts on the top rack (as recommended in cleaning instructions).
But even in dishwasher the cleaning isn't perfect - water remains on top of both bowls because their bottom has a 1" high border. So you'd need to rinse and dry both bowls separately.

And despite all the bowls being reasonably tall, you can only use 1/3 or 1/2 of their capacity because of the hole in the middle which is in approximately that level.

I expected a perfect product given many enthusiastic reviews, and must say that I'm kind of disappointed.

Informed Consumer: We bought this not from Amazon but from Williams Sonoma. At the time we were looking this product was not available here.

Great machine, works as designed. Can't put the bowls in the dishwasher as American dishwashers' heat is too high, but it's not a big deal. We are preparing raw meals for our Shepherd, so a food processor is a must unless one wants to spend ours mincing vegetables, etc.

Aside from the machine working properly, the fact that it is made in France and NOT in China was what made us select this equipment and not, for example, Quisineart (sp?).

Folks, don't buy cheap. Buy made in America or Europe. But not "made in China".
