P: I used a mattress pad last winter on my a/c
Today I placed a bath towel over the unit, put the cover over it to insulate it from draft, looks much better in living area. The cord inside made if fit snugly and the extra tie wasn't necessary.

dvd: For years I tolerated the draft from my window air conditioner during the winter months. I guess just too lazy to do anything about it. :-) Finally, I broke down and did some research. This cover works perfectly. Since the a/c is on the second floor there was no way to conveniently cover the unit from the outside - and then remove it every year. This fits right over the small part that extends inside the house and snugged up by the drawstring. There is a bit of insulation that helps reduce any draft. The window is very old so there is still some draft, but I don't think it is from the a/c anymore; it is definitely much better than in the past. Great investment.

Cheryll: I bought another brand for 2 other units I have that are smaller and they are thicker; this one is much thinner. I do like it but it could be thicker. Also, one of the draw string straps was not attached and there was not an opening to attach it so I did not use it. I used the one that was on it and made it work. It does seem to block the cool air from coming in so that's a plus. I would not purchase this brand again I will go for the other brand the next time; if there is a next time.
