Tamara Thorne: I bought a zapper almost exactly like this (different logo, same exact zapper-style) for the room off the kitchen where our four cat boxes live, and was so impressed with how few flies and gnats are now buzzing around, that I got a second one for our front porch. We love sitting outside on warm evenings, but we hate the bugs. They're even attracted to the light of our solar lanterns.
But now, we have this new zapper set up on the table between our chairs and it's odd and amazing to watch all sorts of insects clamor to go to their deaths. These devices are called mosquito catchers, but they catch everything from flies to moths to daddy longlegs. They head straight for the light and never land on us..
Several times, we've had house flies get into the bedroom-side of the house and buzz my Kindle when I'm reading at night. I brought one of the zappers in and set it up in the bathroom. Shortly after set-up I heard the sizzle, and then I was able to read in peace. It also makes a decent nightlight -- my husband's aim is truer than it is in the dark and neither of us has to turn on a light to get to and from the bathroom.
