Michael Albrecht: Lodge cast iron quality and performance. I didn't even knew I needed a combo cooker until I started bake bread. The thick cast iron even distributes heat and the lip seals in moisture whether you're braising beef or baking bread.

N. Earle: If your pot is cracked, that's not acceptable and it should be replaced. But the little spots where the seasoning is chipped off near the handle, that's a normal part of the manufacturing process. The black coating is not paint folks, its cooked on vegetable oil. They pre-season it so its ready to cook. The rough surface, also normal for cast iron. For this price, you are not going to get a polished surface, nor is it necessary. The texture even helps the non-stick coating adhere and will smoothen out with use. Good info on the Lodge website in their FAQ, it's quite informative.
Mine is great, little bits of seasoning chipped off on the rim, textured surface and all. It cooks so well.

Janice TanJanice Tan: This is an amazing buy. It’s certainly value for money and I used it to bake sourdough bread and it came out nicely baked. These two pans can cover nicely (Dutch oven) and it can also be used as two separate pans. I’ve yet to try for the latter. But if you’re looking for a Dutch oven, this brand is certainly what you’re looking for.

David E. Walter: This set has so turned me into an avid cast iron user. I have used this set a lot now and just plain love it! I rarely use the lid as a lid and mostly use it as a fry pan but it is nice to have a lid just in case. Actually, I probably use the lid more than the bigger pan but they both see a lot of use.
I was getting so tired of non-stick cookware turning into nothing but frustration thinking "Non-stick? Then why is everything sticking to it?" I have since learned non stick basically burns off and is actually slightly toxic, it is a man made chemical compound invented in a lab after all. Now of course this is only true if you heat your non-stick pans up too high, otherwise they are fine. HA! Who hasn't had a pan on the stove and it got too hot because couldn't get to it before it was hotter than it should be or just plain forgot about it? Well, these cast-iron pans love heat, as a matter of fact they thrive on it and heat up amazingly evenly. I cook over higher heats quite a lot, I learned this from watching a lot of cooking shows with real talented Chefs in them, they often cook over high heats and you rarely see them using non stick.
The downside you have a hot...

Kidd: Cast iron; heavy. And that was expected. Anything I've cooked in it came out tasting great. It's just something about frying foods in this skillet that gives the food a better flavor. Need to " dress" the skillet each time it's used.
