F. Miller: I have used the original Petmate Litter Locker for maybe 20 years and purchased the refills from various brick&mortar and on-line sellers. Yes, it's true that there have been some quality control issues recently but for the most part they have been usable.

Now they seem to be completely unavailable. I don't consider $50 per refill to be reasonable availability - it's not as if these are collectible items. Would anyone pay $50 for a roll of toilet paper?

Perhaps the disruption in supply is temporary. In the meantime I am trying the newer style of littler locker/genie but it's not working out well in my situation - I won't get into the messy details :^)

Violet: This product works great for keeping litter contained until you're ready to toss it out. You simply snap it into your Litter Locker and pull down the plastic bag and attach it to the roller. You drop the used litter and waste into an opening in the top, crank the outside roller and the waste/litter "disappears" (until you remove it). What I appreciate is there is NO SMELL. Even when you're removing it from the locker, there is very little odor. I've only had the inside bag break one or twice over a period of 8 years, probably from not cleaning it out soon enough. How often you have to change the bag depends on how many cats you have, and how often you decide to empty it. I am still using my original "Litter Locker" unit after all that time with no problems. My local stores only recently decided to stop carrying the refills for the Original Litter Locker, so I was pleased to find them at Amazon. And even more pleased to realize they are significantly cheaper through mail order (about $3 less per refill).

Dana Strudwick: I bought these before and as was down to the last one, I'm back buying more. If I didn't like them I wouldn't buy them, but they are awesome and does what I need. So easy to use, still love them and will be back for more when needed.

Candace: When I discovered the Litter Locker I was thrilled. Living in an upstairs apartment, and a far walk to the trash dumpster, I used to scoop my cat's litter into a brown bag, then place it in a plastic bag, and then toss it in the trash can, and every time I entered the room again (my litter box was in my master bathroom), I would smell that horrible cat urine smell. Then I started putting the brown bags in another trash can in the closet in an effort to hide the smell, but every time I opened the closet door that smell would hit me like a ton of bricks, so eventually I just ended up running it out to the trash dumpster just to get rid of the odor. Drove me nuts. Now that I have the Litter Locker, I place it in the corner next to the toilet, and I swear, they must have used magic when making the plastic used in the refill cartridges, because I cannot smell anything at all, even when sittting right next to it. It's a wonderful product, and so convenient. Now I only empty the cartridge about every two weeks, and I just change it on trash day so it goes from the Litter Locker right to the dumpster. You will love this product.

Deester: This is a great product with only one flaw. Sometimes it's difficult to find the edge of the plastic bag to pull it through and get the roll started. It would be great if the manufacturer could simply put a piece of colored tape onto the edge that the consumer could pull on to get the roll started properly. A couple of times I have had to pull out just about the entire roll in my attempt to find the edge to get it started. I would then have to stuff all of the plastic bag back into the container, which really hurt my fingers. If there were a colored tab to pull on to get it started, that would be perfect.

I have stopped buying this product because the price just keeps going up and up. I now use plastic grocery bags each day to scoop the waste into, tie the handles shut at the top, then toss the bag into my outside garbage container. The grocery bags are free, and they work just fine. I also had a problem with the litter locker itself the last few months that I used it -- it would not stay closed when I picked it up, so it would make a nasty mess when it fell open in the middle of my room.
