Shanna S Roberts: It’ll take a while to read through but that’s because it’s filled with usable notes. I’d suggest reading and practicing one chapter a week.
One of the best parts of the book is the labeled parts of the camera. There’s a plethora of buttons and being able to identify each one with their respective use is fantastic.

Amazon Customer: Excellent guide with lots of tips and tricks!

Robert Heiken: I found Nikon 5500 for Dummies far more readable, usable and easier to understand than the Nikon 5500 User's Manual that came with my camera. I read it cover to cover with my camera in hand to cross reference actual camera use with the explanations in the book. I continue to keep it handy as I progress through a Digital Arts Photography Program. I highly recommend it as a reference companion to the D5500.

Stefan Fahlberg: This book is a treasure of information and hints about my Nikon D5500.
I don't use my camera daily and didn't know all its features, and how to use it, but this book helped me improve my photo skill, and it still does. Its a lot to learn for a novice like me, and having a book like this to turn to is great.

Vik Walker: This book (as you would expect) takes the camera's supplied manual and translates it into a comprehensive, logical, easy to read and very understandable set of instructions.

I use it for reference (though once I've got enough experience/practice with the camera, it'll be less used) and it's full of tips and hints.

I would strongly recommend it for new, and experienced users of this model of the camera.

John Newton: This was received as part of gift along with the camera (real good package deal) and much appreciated. Recipient isn't new to digital photography, just the Nikon and all that it can do. Really appreicates the readibilty and clarity in the book. The 'Dummies' series o books makes it simple for someone to get up to speed and learn those little things quickly, that might not otherwise be learned at all.

Paul Morgan: Did a lot of photography 30 years ago with a SLR. Got interested in doing architectural and outdoor sculptures. Purchased a Nikon D5500, it was amazing and also overwhelming at the same time. So Nikon D5500 for Dummies. First I tried to use it as a reference just looking for specific I needed at the time. Still was not getting the results I wanted and knew the camera could produce. So I started on page one, set my camera on a tripod next to my desk and got in to school/training mode going step by step. I can not tell you how easy and fast my proficiency has developed. After I feel I have master the concepts I go out and shot to reinforce and develop my skill. really a great learning tool.

Randy: If you own a Nikon D5500, this is for you. Do not let the book name fool you as this is not for "Dummies". I consider this a book for people who want to understand the full camera functions with easier terminology and photos! The read is super easy and it does in fact make you able to comprehend all the features of the camera.

What is also super nice about this book is how it combines an overall DSL Camera use lesson. They cover the various prongs of photography, give tips-suggestions and go into enough detail for a beginning to intermediate user to benefit.

Bottom line here... What good is having an expensive camera if you do not know how to use all the features or take full advantage of it?

Ravyn: So, so, so, SO much better than the manual my camera came with!
I would be utterly lost without this guide! I want to get into photography, but I knew I really needed to learn how to use my camera before I could start taking any classes or read any other books. Trying to read through the manual my camera came with was a tedious, boring task that was making me lose interest more than anything else. I hated feeling like I was wasting my time, and not fully grasping what it was telling me, it felt like being in math class all over again, with a teacher droning on about what we'd be doing that week. . . I got this book after I spent 3 days trying to get through the manual and found myself unable to concentrate on it for more than 6 minutes at a time. . . I have ADD and I really need something I can visually practice with in order to learn, I need to be shown, not told, and I need it to be engaging and interactive, this book is!

It takes you step through step and has you working with your camera as it explains what to do. I love it! It even starts to get into how to take really good pictures, and video, which is an added bonus my manual never mentioned! If you have a D5500,...

Amazon Customer: Had recently bought a D5500 and being a complete DSLR beginner I wanted an idiots guide, and this book fitted the bill perfectly! After a few sessions reading the book with camera in hand I learnt more on a few nights than all the previous weeks trying to find my way around the camera only own. There are parts I am not so interested in and a few aspects where I would have liked more detail but overall very helpful.
