Amazon Customer: This book is an excellent addition to any Autumn library, as well as anyone building a classic library for their child. It has a timeless quality with curious illustrations and a calming rhythm to the writing. I especially enjoy how the leaves are positioned in the shapes of animals and other type of nature throughout the story. Now, my children and students are always going to be looking out for the leaf man and creating our own leaf creatures thanks to the beautiful and whimsical imagination of the author. I recommend this book and the seller.

Beverly Morrison: This is a very nice story for younger children. I read this to my grandson then we did a craft and he collected leaves for the Leaf Man he was to make. It came out so nicely. We can make another one that Leaf Man became. There are several characters to choose from in this book your child will love to make. You can have many lessons on how and where the wind travels, what kind of leaves the child will collect and why the leaves turn color. Great Lesson Plan.

Virginia Cornell: The story kept my 2s and 3s year olds attention. They still ask for me to read it. They loved it. In addition we made our own leaf man to work our fine motor skills. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Sierra Skoch: My toddler loves this story, we forage for leaves to create our own leave creations after reading it. Perfect for connecting children with the fall season and nature.

Maria: Lovely book and the children in school have loved looking at the different pictures.
There isn't much of a story line but then pictures are so beautiful and allow children to use their imagination.
The cover of my book was slightly ripped hence the lower star rating.

A. Pat Malcolm: So many of Lois Ehlert’s titles lend themselves to children’s exploration of the world around them, and this is a wonderful example suited especially to the fall season. When I taught I liked to pair story books with compatible science titles, and this is two-in-one, with a captivating story and activities encouraging autumn leaf gathering and identification. Ideal for home activities like coloring on paper placed over leaves, or making leaf pictures, or even making pictures using sunprint paper. Kids can trace around leaves and practice cutting skills. What is your family’s favorite activity? Be sure to start with a fun walk in the woods or lawn raking session!

Happy Days: As a book from 2005 I was a bit surprised that it was still only available in hardback and thought that it was fairly expensive for a child's book, but this book is amazing and definitely value for money. It is so much more than yet another Autumn story. It is a simple tale that captures the imaginations of the young and old, initially everyone wanted to know what happens next and turning the pages that are cut into the scenery is fun and eye catching, but it is the incredible illustrations that make this book a must read. Lois Ehlert has really shown that you can use any media to create a picture (my favourite by far is the leaf cow), the colours, the patterns and the shapes are so clear they almost jump out of the book at you. By the end of it you really do want to go out and play in the leaves and make your own characters. The book is set in America but the theme carries across the Atlantic nicely, making it an ideal teaching tool for an early years class, key stage 1 children or any forest school or outdoor setting. It can also be enjoyed by older children and grandparents too. It is also worth remembering that this was written before Julia Donaldson's Stickman as the themes...
