Naturally: Well we have had this blocker now for just over a year. What a difference it has made.

We can easily block those pesky survey companies, spam type callers that just seem to annoy us. No, I don't need you to diagnose my computer over the phone. No, I don't have time for a few questions about .... No, I don't want you to call me if I don't know you.

We generally don't answer if we don't recognize the number. If they don't leave a message but persist in calling we google the number. If there are reports of scam, etc. we block the number and presto, no more calls from them. Now it is much less aggravating for us.

Glad we bought it. It is worth the price.

scotty z: Okay, I have two issues. One big and one small. IF you want the call blocker to NOT ring at all when a blocked caller calls, and you use Vonage, you have to connect the box between your phone modem and your wireless phone base, but when you do this you don't get the ID display on your extensions. (at least my AT&T wireless phones didn't). That was kind of a drag because part of the whole point of buying this box was to stop ALL unwanted ringing, so now my phones ring once when a blacklisted caller calls, then the call is dumped. (both the base and the box are plugged in to a double outlet) Alright, so I gave them that one, BUT the other thing the box does is arbitrarily locks up where I cannot review my calls or anything. I have to unplug it, let the display fade away completely, then plug it back in and it unlocks and lets me review my calls for deletion or blacklisting. I'm afraid the idea of the box is great, but the software and/or hardware is weak and worth about 1/4 of what I paid for it. Supposedly it has all the "latest" updates or something. it still is nice because its better than nothing I suppose.

OLDGEEK: Out of the box it looks ok... However; I think the arrow buttons should be Up/Down...Manual inside box were ok.,,,, kinda small and hard to read because of the small print, However; I did receive an email pointing to an updated manual which I printed out.

Recommended improvements for this product.
(1). A battery needs to be used for inputting blacklist numbers so it does not initially have to be connected to the phone line. This will facilitate using the "*" or "#" key while adding numbers to the blacklist so a person does not accidentally dial out.
(2). Time needs to be in standard time, Not Military time which is what my device showed.
(3). Must Enter the "1" before the area code. (Irritating for me).
(4). Phone cord that is used to connect it to a phone was too short. (Had to used another cord).
(5). Needs a (White list or Allowed List) and the device needs to ignore those calls and not record those numbers.

Overall.
Pretty good product for the money and I like not hearing the phone ring when when I get a blacklist call.; However it will show up on the incoming call list.
I am using AT&T U VERSE and it will only allow 20 numbers to be...

Paulie: Based on my personal experience, the negative opinions on this product are shear NONSENSE!!!!!
First of all.....the requirement is that you need the Caller ID service to be activated from your phone company. It will NOT work without this Caller ID service activated.
Secondly.....the battery compartment is NOT to be used....per the instructions. My old Caller ID device uses batteries which is a waste of money. This unit does not use batteries which is a savings.
The unit gets its power from the phone line and doesn't require batteries.
Third....the unit is basically a Caller ID device that allows you to flag phone numbers for a Black List.
Like a Caller ID unit, it displays date, time, day and other data.
When you have a number that you don't want calling you again, you simply push the Black List button and it's done.

The Good: It works, period!
The bad: By the time it compares your Black List against your Caller ID number.... your phone rings once (in my case) and it cuts them off!!!!
If the phone didn't ring at all, I would have given it 5 stars.
Thanks for peace of mind from unwanted phone calls at a resonable price.
