Slater: Vilius has written an easy to read compendium on how to prep and run your crowd funding. It has become a reference document. To me -- the most valuable pieces are the focus on the pre-work. He works to dispel the "Build-it and the will come" mind set. That's not the way KS and IGG (IndieGoGo) work.

When you see doors blown out numbers over $1M -- You need to know a few key things:

1) PR work needs to start to occur 6 months prior (if not earlier!)

2) Most of these products have already built up enough of a following so that at launch fully of a third of their pledges are already 'locked down' via landing page and email collection.

3) Make sure you tell a compelling story about how what you offer will enhance their lives

4) Transparency and maintaining a regular connection with your audience are important - esp. if you plan on having a long-term business.

What could be better? As I dug into the success factors, I realized many of these block buster campaigns have paid big $$ on advertising and/or have given away significant margin through affiliations / partnerships (for example Jellop, Kickbooster, LaunchBoom etc.) to achieve these mega...

The most important take away for me was the detailed and thorough descriptions on the work you need to do PIOR to a kickstarter launch. Filled with great tips, and research. This book will be referenced again and again for me.

Ice Cube: Good advice for any beginner entrepreneur. I disagree with harvesting your business and personal relationships because those should be cherished for a lifetime while your business might fail. Other than that, the book is solid.
