Although not necessarily needed to seal the bag, it's nice to be able to attach it and it's always right there when you need it. It appears to be made of good quality materials, is attractive, and functions well.

Just know that the clip part is not particularly strong. It will hold the bag top together, yes. But it's not a 'tight' squeeze on it. Mainly because it's such a long thing.
