Susan: I thought these characters were real and situations created were too real also in this day and time. A page turner I did not want to put down. A little more brutality than I like but I get thru it quickly.

Jane Dean: Watch out Child’s, Patterson & Baldacci, as there’s a new boy in town!! Saul Herzog knows how to keep his readers totally gripped. I’ve just read The Asset and couldn’t put it down. I was delighted to learn that at least eight more books follow on from the original story so I’m one happy lady. I found myself totally invested in the characters and also blindsided by the plot. Keep up the good work Saul

Lisa Larsenberger: I've read them all and this one is by far the best. It's the one to read again a second time. Many of his other Lance Spector books portrary too disgusting tortures and hideous torturers. They all capture the true Soviet face of today's Russia, and all testify of the ongoing Cold War between Russia and the NATO countries (the Cold War is not a thing of the past). Like all his books, like this one paints a believable picture of a plot to make the Cold War a hot one.

Edwin A. Locke: The best part of this book was that it was very anti Russian and correctly so. They are a totally depraved country. The focus is on Russia's attempt to build a new secret, biological warfare complex . Plot details follow:: the Russians have spies everywhere, even in the US including the CIA. The Russian lab makes a deadly new biological weapon but a deadly leak occurs so the Russians try to kill many of their scientists and lab workers as they can or need to, to cover it up. CIA agents infiltrate and rescue anti Russian scientists, Many of the CIA achievements ridiculous. one young, heroic CIA agent was captured and repeatedly and horribly tortured. Any normal person would have died but this did not really slow her down at all. Her exploits make James Bond look like a hopeless amateur. Later she and her male partner, another Bond-type, easily invade the Kremlin and escape in a helicopter, despite being shot at by thousands of of rounds of ammunition and severely wounded. The CIA double agent is killed as are the Russian spies in the US--and so on. If you can put up with with extreme fiction this is an exciting read.

Jacques de Guise:
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. You feel that the author knows the former Soviet Union, Moscow, the details of now Russian political investigation techniques and deception. He mixes elementary psychology about women in the forefront.
I couldn’t let the book down...and will definitely continue the series. Than you, Author Herzog

Thrawn95:
Meet „retired“ CIA asset Lance Spector - a man with an endearing sense of humor and a very particular set of deadly skills. When we first encounter him, he is in a remarkable situation that immediately forges an emotional connection between him and the reader.
With such a great introduction, Saul Herzog sets the bar pretty high from the start and doesn’t let go til the very end.
The characters are among the most fully realized that I came across in this genre in quite a while. The story is deftly plotted, and Herzog pulls together the many threads of the complex narrative masterfully at the end.
The pacing is also very good and the thrill-factor of the many shocking twists is amplified by the pulse-pounding action scenes, which have an alluring cinematic touch to them.
THE ASSET is a truly stunning debut and I can’t wait to see how the story continues in THE RUSSIAN!

Margie, author of the Demonverse Series: What I love most about Saul Herzog's stories is that he takes what used to be called science fiction, militarizes it, and turns it it tomorrow's news. The guy has to have a crystal ball. His stories are amazing.
