Jean Prefontaine: Item is advertised to weight 1 pound (454 grams) but in fact, I received 300 grams. At this price, it's bad faith. It's 30% less than advertised. I returned it.

Gaz: Takes a lot of patience, I bought this because I wanted to get back to some of the things we did in the past.

toomanytoysforagrownup: This seller did a FANTASTIC job. I got EXACTLY what was shown in the picture and I got it fast. And hey it works. Personally I wanted to be able to do a truly Caveman type fire. Cavemen didn't have steel. They only had rocks. Marcasite (iron pyrite or fools gold makes low temperature sparks. It is easier to use a steel striker. But may as well just bring a lighter right?

You'll also need carbon cloth (which cavemen didn't have) or something else. I found cat tails to be pretty good. Probably not as good as carbon cloth though. Fomen fomentarius (horse's hoof fungus) is supposed to be about the best. I don't know if you can find it easily in California so I bought some. If you start it with a lighter it will burn like incense until it's gone. I'm told it requires processing to get to catch a spark easily. Take wood ash and water boiled with the horse's hoof for an hour. Let the fungus dry in the sun for as long as it takes. Then rough up the surface to make it "fluffy". I am currently at the drying stage.

I know this is a very odd review but I'm excited. I wouldn't be if the seller was bad.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this seller. I got the Flint in about 48 hours after...

Andy Berreth: Personally I get much better strikes on quarts, but these have their purpose

OBE WAN: Took so long as I’m in Australia. To get good flint not white quartz. Which heat is not close to great Spark from good flint. Highly recommend as they don’t sell you tiny piece. There good size which will last you a good amount of time. Really happy there not gone crazy with price. As veteran pensioner some people are asking ridiculous money for fake flint and size. But can give my best to this group as quality and price not cheap but worth what getting. Please don’t go crazy like the octogon ferrous rod 6 inch 1:2 thick. USA $48 Australia $175 at times higher. But like any ufo book that written by the not crazy writers out there and far out there info. Notice a paper back which I have a few from 2 aurthors that are asking only on Amazon $650 for a paper back which bought from the author website for $16-$20 australian. Which makes me think Amazon makes these prices as I have asked the author. Who replied that’s why the documentaries 5 that been done all making it number one Netflix and other top documentaries. Will not even put the only just done again at the American press club to go with the lost century showing generals and and high positioned people giving evidence on...

A.R.B.: This stuff is the real deal! BIG, heavy, chunks of flint with many great edges to strike a steel and make sparks. I combined this with the PSKOOK Steel and there was a ton of bright hot sparks thrown, easily visible in bright daylight. Very easily created embers on char cloth and shredded jute twine and started a flame in minutes.

HIGHLY recommend!

grandad-2-3: You get two large pieces of flint you can nap then or just make multiple pieces for your flint and steel

United States on Mar 11, 2023

OpsChief: Nice quality flint but pieces are lumps, not really all that good for flint and steel. Would have liked large flakes, will have to work on these pieces to get suitable flake style pieces to actually use.

K.Arrow: I saw a program on Stonehenge and how people used Flint to build fires. We have an indoor fireplace so I figured this would be interesting. They do work, they do spark, but since I am not an outdoors person or used this before an am a total beginner, let us say I did not exactly start a fire using them. I never did this before so I used the long nosed lighter. Am I sorry I bought these? NO! I actually love them! They also make a very nice collectors item if you like rocks and crystals. Which I do. I also like that they did spark but I just didn't know what I was doing. They make a great learning tool so I am going to go online to learn how to use them correctly. This is a wonderful thing to have regardless of if you use them or not. Have some ancient history in your home by buying these!
