SnafuBE: Surprisingly the range on the new remote is not any better than the old and well worn OEM remote. It does work when closer to the vehicle but it is not better than a new OEM remote.

RL: These work fine on my 2004 Nissan Quest. They look great and feel really durable. There is a strange ritual that you have to go through to get the vehicle to recognize them, but clear instructions are included and it worked fine for me on the second attempt. The timing of the steps of the procedure is critical.
At first I thought that these new fobs had significantly reduced range because not every button press did its thing. I then realized that the real issue is that the buttons need to be pressed more firmly than on the original fobs, which are very sensitive. I don't like the fact that pressing the button until it just clicks is not sufficient - you have to press it slightly further than the click point, but it always works and has great range.
There is one more thing annoying me that is probably not an issue with the new fobs themselves, but nonetheless related to their registration ritual. After registering the new fobs, I noticed a red symbol flashing periodically on the instrument cluster whenever the key was out of the ignition. On looking it up, it turns out to be the NVIS or Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System light. The description is very scary - if an...
