Marleen: I recently bought a car that did not have a key fob. Thinking I could avoid going to a Dealership and
paying $250 to $300 (on average), I began to do some research myself to find that I could buy the key,
then take it to a Locksmith to have it cut.

The downside: I heard this from more than 1 Locksmith (I called several), that they will not guarantee
that it works for your car after they program/cut it. Reason being, they will tell you that it is an "after
market" key and that there are those that will produce these keys inexpensively but it may not work.
Either way, the Locksmith will tell you that you will still be charged the fee to cut it, even if it doesn't work for your car after the fact. Is that a chance you want to take? Or, your other option is to purchase the key from them (which is definitely more, mine was $100), and this they will guarantee.

So, out the door, it costs me $165 for the Key & the programming. I have yet to try this key...not sure if
I want to take the chance or return it. Just something you might want to know before you go this route.

TCribb: I was very impressed with the product especially after being told that it probably wouldn’t be able to be programmed. I was able to get a program no problem

Paul G.: The product ended up breaking apart after falling to floor from pocket height. Very disappointed as the setup was rather easy.

Peter: Good quality key, much better than the originals. Battery is held securely and easy to replace with no damage (unlike the Chrysler keys). Very easy to program using the instructions provided but you must have 2 working keys to do this. I was so satisfied that I bought a second one in order to retire my original keys. Highly recommended.

Ted J. Wheeler: Update...

After not even one year, three cracked apart in exactly the same place in the middle of the fob. I got by for a bit by gluing until one by one they absolutely disintegrated. Well 'they're cheaper' you say? Your Chrysler vehicle only has so many logical address slots for additional fobs to be added via this process. Any lost or broken keys still occupy any number of addresses. My Jeep's are now "full" so no matter what I buy, cheap or not, it's off to the dealership to have the assignments erased for an hour of labor. The process provided here quits working when the system reaches its' max and no a locksmith does not have the private manufacturer's PIN to erase them. I saved the circuit boards so I may just buy a couple more and throw these boards in the same new models, but those will break too.

Incidentally, I have another aftermarket fob, purchased long before, that has a much more substantial case and a red (not green) higher quality circuit board but that vendor no longer sells on Amazon. So better aftermarket replacements do exist.

Don't waste your valuable address assignments on these low quality...

Mr.Doug: I lost my key so I ordered this. Right before the key came, I found my key in a pocket. The new key came and it looks just like the original. My husband followed the directions that came with the key to program it. It worked, it unlocks the car and trunk. We took the key to a locksmith and they charged $2 to cut the key. They said they would program the key for $50. We said we already did it. The guy said, "It will not start the car, I have to do it because it has to be programmed by me, I have thousands of dollars worth of equipment to do it right." My husband said "No, I programmed the key." The guy said "How did you do it?" My husband said "It will cost you $50 for me to tell you." The guy said "Well it won't start your car, it has to be done by a professional." We walked out and put the key in the car and it started. Great deal for $28. Now I have a spare key in case I do lose it again.

Schnook: I haven't had these for very long, but they are both working perfectly for my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. You need 2 working key FOBs to program these. I popped them open and the battery seems like its more sturdy than my old key (P/N 56038768AD). 2 things that are noticeably different from my old key: 1) the buttons don't "click" like they did on the old key, and 2) there is no screw holding the key fob together. Seems like not having a screw won't be that problematic though, because they are held together pretty well by the rubber inside. I have ordered some Silicon key covers to hold them together, just in case however.

You need to get these cut before programming the key FOBs. I took mine to Home Depot, and the guy there was working a retirement job, put my old key in the machine, then the new key, and cut them free of charge!!

All in all, these were way cheaper than buying them elsewhere, and I am glad I took a risk and saved some $$$ for an excellent product!!!
