Realty_Bytes: Update: This unit is no longer available on Amazon, but there is a bulb under the brand name. There are at least two units with the same design and specs under another name on Amazon. Wanted to update to say it just went out this week, so the bulb lasted 5 mos with continuous use. Although not pleased, at least it was longer than 3 months. I honestly prefer using these and throwing them away. I hate bugs and don’t want to bother with cleaning the unit and replacing the bulb. All of these zapping units are honestly very cheaply made and need to be at a better price point.

Prior review: I purchased this to replace another zapper that although it worked well, the bulb lasted less than 3 months and wasn’t replaceable. The company sent a replacement but it was out in 2 mos. I don’t even see it on Amazon anymore so I guess they decided to remove it because of the bulb issue. That unit is still selling for $40. Idk why manufacturers won’t just make these last at least 6 months and make them disposable selling at 14.99. I would sign up for auto ship if could receive 2 a year for $30 and never have to open it up to replace a bulb. They could even have a return program so the...

GrandmaM: UPDATE 4/2/22 - Well, the first one that I bought died today, only 9 1/2 months after purchase. The other one died after six months. For the price, I expect at least a year out of these. It makes me sad, because they work great when they are working. All in all, I would not advise getting this one.

UPDATE 12/9/21 - I bought two of these in June 2021. The first one is still working , but the second one completely died this week, after only six months of use. The first one is still working fine, but now I'm prepared to lose it too. I really like these zappers, but I expected at least a year out of these. I've lowered this to three stars from five, since I still have one that works. I will probably look for a different one as a replacement. If you buy this, be prepared for short term life.

Backbutton: Update 07/22/23:

Since the shorter cord issue was resolved by the seller, I have been using this. But alas, the basic design defect of this lamp being top heavy because the cord and lamp mechanisms are on the top, with the bottom being lighter, caused the lamp to take a tumble off of the cabinet and break.

I was always aware that this might happen due to the top-heavy unbalance, and had guarded against it, but it finally did happen anyway. Some of the slats were broken, and the top is now lopsided and I don't know if it is still safe to use since it was zapping for no apparent reason.

Time for a new zapper. Taking 2 stars off. Otherwise, it had worked well.

Update: 06/27/2021

Have caught critters that I was unaware were present in the room. I move it from room to room, and even to the garage, and once in a while hear the satisfying zap. It works.

Customer service sent me an extension cord-like solution to address the shorter cord issue, along with an extra bulb. The customer service representative, Wynne was very courteous and nice. Thus buy with confidence.
