Kevin: Very pleased with the quality of this scraper! First thing I noticed when taking the handle out of the packaging was how sturdy the handle felt. More and more aquarium products are being made with cheaper plastics so it was refreshing to pull this out and feel how solid it was with the fiberglass construction. Even at the full 36" extension the handle remained rigid so you can exert decent pressure on the glass to help remove more stubborn algae or coraline algae for those with saltwater aquariums.

My aquarium in 30" deep so this scraper is a godsend when it comes to aquarium maintenance. Nice to be able to clean the glass all the way to the substrate line without having to stick my entire arm into the tank! The included short handle was also appreciated bonus as it really help when cleaning the top of the aquarium around the rim of the tank.

I would highly recommend the Kent Marine pro-Scraper 24-36 inch for anyone with a deeper aquarium.

The Raggamuppets: I love this scraper set! I have a 180 that is 24 inches and I am 5 foot nothing. To actually reach the bottom of the front of the glass, I would have to get half of my front and my whole arm wet. It was torture! When I tried to reach it with my magnetic scraper, I got small scratches from the sand along the bottom edges of the tank :(

So in comes this awesome reachable scraper. It is perfect for around the sand line for me. If I was using it to do all the sides and not the bottom, I may not have gotten the 24'' one, I would have gotten the 16'' because it is not easy to maneuver under the hood with it. It's still much easier to use my magnetic scraper for the top 3/4 of the tank and use this all along the bottom edges.

The handle itself is very sturdy. I have been checking them all out at fish stores for a few weeks and could not decide, but decided to bite the bullet and try this one out. I am so glad I did, this is better than any of the ones I found at my local fish stores. It's very strong, even at 24'' long. The blades are awesome as well. I had lots of coraline algae all along the bottom 1/4 of my tank and the razor took it off like nothing.

All in all,...

Brian D Smith: I have a MagFloat algae scraper which consists of two piece that are magnetized. You stick on pice with bristles inside the tank and the other piece you use on the outside to glide it around. It works great on soft algae which is what I had in my tanks until recently I started getting this green stuff that is extremely hard. The Mag-Float wasn't cutting it no matter how many passes I took over it.

I was looking for something with a blade and this scraper fit the bill. It's not as high tech as the Mag-Float, but sometimes simple is better. It comes with three interchangeable and replaceable blades. One is a felt-like material, one plastic and one metal. The metal blade is not sharp so I really don't worry about it scratching my tank.

I started using the plastic blade which worked better than the bristles on the Mag-Float, but it still wasn't super easy and it wasn't getting everything off. I switched the metal blade and BAM! The green algae started flying out into the water. It only took me a couple of minutes to clean my 40 gallon tank.

Some of the knocks I saw on this before I bought it:

1.) The surface area of the blade isn't big enough so it takes a...
