Gatordude: This is an excellent look at a very tough Infantry tour in Iraq. As an American reader, many of the weapons and vehicles are unfamiliar (you'll make a trip or two to google), but the heat, the sweat, the terror of combat, and the sacrifices are universal and well recorded in this book. This book is pretty unflinching about grievous wounds and the work of combat medics. It's an intense read. Next time your teen "dies" playing Call of Duty swat them upside the head with this book and have them read it before playing again.

Amazon Customer: An excellent review of the tour in Helmand Province of The First Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment (The Vikings).
This book shows the true professionalism, grit, courage and tenacity of young British Soldiers of the so called, "Playstation Generation".
Extensively researched and written by a former commanding officer of the battalion, the book shows the intensity of the fighting the young Vikings faced against a dogged and determined Taliban. Having to deal on an almost daily basis with coming under heavy fire, the soldiers fought back hard and showed the Taliban that their hold on the Helmand Province was at an end.
I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone interested in military history, the history of Afghanistan or anyone interested in reading of true courage from the young men of East Anglia and Essex.
As a retired Poacher, Vikings I salute you!.
