Pad: From reviews on other websites including Amazon, the dimensions appeared as if they would fit our 2008 Rav4 roof top. It was actually about 10-12 inches longer than our farthest cross bar. We made it work, but did add three additional crisscross style tie downs that we wrapped around the crossbars and through the car doors to help prevent etc drag from the excess length which we tucked underneath. The eight ties included were sufficient but you need to either wrap the extra tie length down or we used velcro ties to keep them from flapping about as it was really noisy if you don't. We took a test drive around the area first to ensure the ties stayed. They did loosen a bit at first, but with the velcro and extra tie downs it didn't shift. Really recommend using a roof anti-slip mat to help as well plus prevent roof top scratching.

Anonymous: My husband insisted we needed one of these. I thought we didn’t. I was wrong. This is extremely handy and can be tucked away and easily put on if needed.

We have a wheelchair accessible van for our daughter so we have almost no storage space inside our vehicle. This however gives us a ton of extra space when and if needed. We drove from Ontario to Disney World with our daughter recently and this certainly made it a lot easier!! We did take everything out of the bag at night just for peace of mind. It was easy to secure and we didn’t worry it was going to fly off. Nothing got wet during the intense rain we drove through either.

All around happy with this! I’m off to read reviews for some sort of de-bug soap to help get all of the dead bugs off of it that accumulated during the ride!

Kenji DoshidaKenji Doshida: Hi all, I have an issue with this bag on our very first road trip! The extra front strap length I guess was not secured and I think was flapping in the wind hitting the bag, causing a tear in the exterior bag! The bag is no longer water protected and I'm quite disappointed. I would like to try and get a hold of someone from keeper to have a replacement and then I would tightly secure all the straps with elastics or something.

Edit: I contacted the manufacturer through their website and got a response right away. They will send me a new bag, so I would like to amend my rating to 5 stars for their customer service and quick response to fix my issue. I would still highly recommend the straps be tied down somehow to not let it hit the bag while in travel and avoid this issue.

Cory GrafCory Graf: I have no regrets on this bag as of my first weekend use of it! I will give the durability a huge 5 stars because I did a user error and it flew off my truck because I didnt strap it down at the time but the wind caught it and she got some minor tears on her but nothing dramatic! It held up really well to the scraping of pavement and luckily no vehicles ran it over with my gear inside! This thing is super easy to use. Wish it came with handles but thats minor. I just grab all the straps and use those and they hold well! I tied it down on top of my coolers through my bed cleats in the rails! It snugs down great and doesnt move! Stuffed it with my tent gear and clothing etc etc! Love it! So happy I found this so far! Unsure of how water proof she is right now but ill test that soon enough!

TyGa: Best value in a waterproof rooftop bag!

Use has been driving with bag half-to-fully loaded from sunny through to rain, freezing rain, snow storms and high cross-winds on trips from Ottawa to Toronto, North Bay and back.

Lots of straps to keep it secure. It keeps everything inside completely dry when the zipper is facing the rear (KEEPER logo forward).
It took some playing around with to fit it to our roof rack and to figure a system for a speedy install and filling efficiently - as I’d imagine every different-sized vehicle and intended use might have various best-method approaches.

I would like to use it without a roof rack now that we’ve changed cars and are still looking for a new rack system, but the company recommends only using with 4 sided strap attachment options (full roof rack system). That being said I’ve sold everything from the old car except this bag with plans on using it on our next rack.

I’d definitely recommend this for a less expensive, more functional and adaptive alternative to hard boxes if the dimensions work for you.

And I’d purchase from Keeper again.

Ashley Burt: Honest review of this product: we traveled 1100 miles one way. Still have the return trip, i will update later. We were not gentle with this bag and I read many reviews and read the insert twice before using the bag. We purchased the bundle with mat and extra straps. We have a 2011 dodge Durango with OEM roof rails and cross bars. The straps are finicky to say the least but lasted just fine through 1100 miles. As other reviewers stated, they are a bit of a pain but they work well once you get everything cinched down. All roof rails are different and i found myself using 2 of the 8 on the back rails and the other 6 I actually took apart to place through smaller anchor holes along the rail in order to evenly distrubute the tension. This worked great and in addition to using the straps to go around the roof rails and bag lengthwise, the bag didnt move an inch or bounce at all the whole trip, no noise or noticable drag. The first day was stressful. We had never used the bag and it took a good hour to figure out the best way to pack and secure everything. We went 800 miles the first trip, trash bagged everything (3 carry on size suit cases packed completely full and 3 duffel bags.) I...

Carrie C: I drove across 6 states...tied all the straps down to the roof rails b/c I do not have the crossbars. This thing did not move one inch! YES...YOU CAN USE THIS ITEM WITHOUT THE CROSSBARS. Although I did use a cheap Sherpak Roof Mat underneath this bag to keep it from slipping during wet weather.

Great bag! BIG! The straps that come with this bag are actually of standard-quality but the seams are sewn tight so you would really have to be in a foul mood to damage these straps... so that's a good thing! So many times with these types of products it's the straps or tie-downs that are the cheapest part and I always end up using my own, higher-quality straps or bungees to tie things down. Not the case with this item.

Now I've only used it once so a year from now the straps might be crap but as long as you store this item properly (not outside in the weather) then the straps should last a long time.
