GP: I have two kittens who are still learning to properly use a litter box. This mat reduces the need to sweep and vacuum as much as I had before the mats. Pouring out the cat litter from them can be a little messy, but not terrible. They are also easy to wipe clean. The smell
of the plastic reminds me of the smell of flip flop sandals and is not overpowering. The only downside is they come shipped folded up and it takes a while for the creases to relax out of them which can cause a little more litter mess as the cats jump around the buckled areas from the folds.

Charlette: I am pleasantly surprised that this mat works as well as it does. Only reason I gave 4 stars, is unless you cat is only a very small kitten, it is not large enough. My cat is less than 6 months old and it is hard to figure out how to position it to keep all litter off my floor. But, there is much less being tracked. They need to make much larger.

Race B: The mat seems to catch litter, but it was delivered in a box all folded up and so it has huge creases in it. The box actually also contained a little info sheet that said to use a hair dryer or heavy weight to remove the creases. I did both, and the creases persist.

Lincoln County MT: Had to change cat litters as kitty was allergic to clay clumping litter. We went to a corn based variety. It too clumps a bit but does not use what clay litters use at all. Meantime kitty is on strong steroids for about 4 months and he has improved a lot but still not 100% yet. New litter was really messy...light and fly away and was tracked right off throughout house. So daily sweeping is a must even with this mat. Other people who liked the litter let you know this would happen with this kind of litter. Reminds me of a sweeping agent warehouses use sometimes and kinda acts that way so it's easier to get into the dust pan. But still right at the source the litter pan what a mess. Our litter box is on a step up into a closet. It is a huge litter box very deep since past kitties used to spray up high and this solved that. THese two kits are not that way but they are used to the box and no doubt helps contain the litter too. But the step in front of the box is loaded multple times a day as kit jumps from box to step to mat on floor below it. Both kits didn't have any problem with the mat from day one.
