Daisy: I bought this little green house for my 12 year indoor cat. Its very well made. That said, as a longtime cat owner, including a feral and other strays, I would not put this house or any such houses out in inclement weather. They are lightweight, and would surely need to be elevated off the ground in any season. But this review is mainly about my indoor use of it. I have three cats. It was funny to watch. All three quickly tried it out, including my huge boy, King. He weighs about 18 lbs. His tail end lay outside the house. He hasn't bothered it since. My other girl cat, Callie got in it a few times when she caught Ginger out if it. So I ordered a second one! We've had a mild winter to say the least, so my home hasn't been as cold as it normally is in winter, and the new house isn't being used as much as the first one...YET. But if you have a problem with one cat being a bully, as King is, and your bullied cat is fearful, this house may be a godsend. It is for me and my girl. Every time King starts pestering her she runs to her house...her safe haven. (I did not use the plastic flaps on the backside). That way, she can dart out quickly, if necessary. Love this house!
Ok, it...

Edith WerbelEdith Werbel: This is the best purchase I've made in a while. My elderly, skinny, Australian cat (she was designed for the heat and has a very thin coat) was always cold, even in during the warmer months. Poor thing was always sitting on the modem, seeking its heat. I liked to think, also, that her constant snuggling with us was love -- but I knew she was largely using us for our body heat. Anyhoooo, I got her this house and she bloody loves it. She's in it most of the day. It was super easy to assemble, of good quality and design and the heated pad itself is cushy and lovely. It's awesome that the heated pad isn't on all the time and only activates when it senses the cat on it. The heat also seems to be ideal, very mild to human touch but perfect for furries. We're using this indoors and it doesn't look too outdoor-y. Only downside to this house is it's made my cat into a little pompous ass. She sits in there all day, flexin' hard on her younger brother and beating him and the occasional human hand away. I've also lost a lot of snuggles. But still, I watch her there all content and feel all is well in the world.

Amazon Customer: The main issue (both a feature and a bug) with this unit is that the heating pad doesn't warm until something/someone is on it. It's not much of an inducement to a suspicious cat who may not see the appeal of getting in a strange box with a cold mat. We purchased this for a little stray who has adopted us and is currently living in the garage. He would not go inside. We warmed up the heating pad by placing a towel on, then removed it and coaxed our boy in with treats. Then we convinced him to stay inside for a minute or two (easier said than done). As soon as he figured out its warming properties, he was happy to use it and has continued to do so. And honestly, it's nice the thing isn't cranking out heat when it's not being used.
The shelter material and construction is good quality and assembly was intuitive. Carefully assembled, the structure is sturdy. The only confusion was in the heating pad instructions, which said to open an inflatable tab thing that, on our model, did not exist. We just went ahead and plugged it in and it's working fine. Also, the ad says this house is good for up to two cats. They must mean very small ones. Our little man is about 7 lbs (so not...

Marie-E. P.Marie-E. P.: This is the 4th winter our cat has been using the shelter. Super well built. Durable. Keeps his body warm. He’s always in it. He loves that he can see through the window. He prefers to be in it than in the house with us! It’s his happy place!
This past winter though (Dec-Jan) we had a few weeks with nights below -30 (not counting windchill). We were worried one morning when he was not in his house. We followed his tracks and he was in our old (RubberMaid+2in thick foam+straw-no heating) shelter under the deck. The tip of his ears had frozen... I think that in a normal winter, the heated pad is perfect and the windshelter properties of the house are fine (warm body keep extremities warm), but in extreme cold (-30 and below), more insulation is needed. We were relieved to see our dude spend a few weeks inside after that. He understood being inside was best for a while. He’s the only one of our cats who’s allowed to go outside, because he stresses easily (post trauma side effect) and tends to mark (Prozac helps, but he is more relaxed outside), so we let him go out when he wants to. The other two stay inside...
Anyway, his ear tips did not fall, they are just... a bit...

Tolly: I bought this for a stray kitty that I feed and was worried would be too cold this winter. He's really cautious around people and doesn't come too close when I'm standing there, so I wasn't sure how he'd feel about this cat house. At first I had both plastic flaps attached and he'd go in to get treats but back right back out again immediately. I removed one of the plastic flaps (easy to do when the house is assembled because they are attached by velcro), and he's been it in every cold night and even on rainy nights and days.
The house is only water resistant, but I have to say that it does stay dry inside, even during strong rain/thunderstorms. The bottom gets wet sitting on the open patio, so I put the cat house on top of some burner covers that I had for my stove (the ones that cover two burners; I placed two under the cat house). I think cinder blocks, bricks, or anything that won't be a fire hazard would work equally well). This elevates the cat house off the patio, but since it didn't do much beyond that, I placed a heavy kitchen drain mat under the house (on top of the burner covers). This helped so much that the bed inside the cat house stayed perfectly dry after a...

Jessica: We have a cat that is half wild. As the colder weather is coming on, we begin to dread the winter. That is when this cat stays inside more and starts to pee on EVERYTHING...the duvet, the bath mat, the dog bed. In the summer, she is a dream cat. She comes inside for naps, cuddles and snacks and spends the majority of her time in the woods in our backyard. We have tried all sorts of tricks with the litter box to try to get her to use it but she just won't. My partner and I have been at a loss as to what to do. We love furry creatures but have even contemplated having her put down.
I bought this little house only a few weeks while ago with big hopes. I have had it plugged in on the back deck for a couple of weeks. She had not gone near it until yesterday. It was rainy and cold and I caught her sleeping happily in the box. Last night before bed, when I put her outside, she went right in the box! And I felt better knowing she had a warm soft place to sleep.
The is made of sturdy weather proof material. Inside is a soft fuzzy bed that will heat up slightly when you plug it in. A slight concern is that it heats up only a very little bit. Perhaps it is on purpose as the house is...

Chantal H: Have purchased a few of these over the years for our outdoor cats. They were always well built, although needed to be placed under a tarp or sheltered from either rain or snow. Bought a new one this year only to discover it has changed. The roof used to be attached with 2 zippers, so that it would not come off. This time the house only has velcro to hold it on. Not certain how well this works as it now seems to let in some air/cold around the edges. Also the actual heating mat has changed, it is much thinner and has not inflated as indicated on the directions after it was plugged in. The cord no longer has a metal coil around it to protect it from critters biting into it. Our cat has gone in, and i am really hopeful that the heat and comfort are still present as it gets cold in Ottawa in the winter months. It also cost a lot more than the last time i bought it, with seemingly less benefits. Have decided to buy another heating pad from the same manufacturer just in case. Fingers crossed!
