Penny: Got this for a rabbit who has a large enclosure outside. She is out of the elements but she loves the two openings and loves the security and sturdiness enough to NOT chew on it! WIN! It keeps her warm and dry when the air is damp. I'm sure it would also be great for cats.

desertwiffie: Because this was a K&H product I assume the heated pad in came with would be one of their products but it has a different name/logo on it and is inferior. It is nicely padded and I like the removable cover but it doesn't heat the way the K & H pads do, which I swear by and have a dozen of. I tested the pad the way I have always done with the others and the temp on it struggled to 80 degrees. Better than nothing, but not the cat body temp of 101, which is what the K & H pads maintain. The house itself is fine, I'm not really very happy about the rear exit, and the plastic door which hangs from it really doesn't keep cold air out so I always cover it, but the house itself seems fine and goes together (and apart) easily. I had to remove the heated pad it came with though and slip in one of my older K & H pads in order to really provide a warm environment for my outside cat. I happened to catch this product when it was only $60 (a couple of days after that the price was $99) so I got lucky, for that amount of money I'd have felt I should have gotten a better heated pad! Still, in general, I'd recommend this bed, but I'd say buy it without a pad and...

Kim D.Kim D.: We've been feeding a feral cat when he shows up for the past few years, and finally got him into TNR this year. We found out he's now avoiding his usual shelter (in a neighbor's garage) in favor of our porch. Our winters are brutal in Indiana so we had provide a shelter! We modified a styrofoam cooler, but he refused to consider it. Research said feral cats want two ways to get out of a shelter, so we decided on this K&H heated cat house. He had a bed he slept on so we moved that into the cat house. It took a couple of weeks of putting treats and canned food into the cat house before he accepted it. Then we gave it a month before we put one clear plastic door on one end. He has fully accepted it - yay! He's an 11-lb cat and the house is a cozy fit for him: smaller is better than larger so there's less interior space to heat. I don't think 2 adult cats could fit in it unless they don't mind a pretty tight fit. We did place some woven rugs over the house since we're concerned winds might blow it around. It's padded canvas-like material so the cat house isn't very heavy. It stays nice and warm while he's in it, but it doesn't have much in the way of heavy...

rob: I ordered my cat house two days ago and got it today.
Upon initial inspection, the house appears to be of good quality; the external material appears to be something like heavy canvas. The structure inside the panels has some kind of rigid hardboard that keeps its shape.
The house is very easy to assemble with the Velcro strips, and appears to seal well.
The instructions point out that the house itself is not waterproof and does require something over and around it to keep the rain off. The house appears to be at least weather resistant. I will be centrally locating the house on my large back porch so it won't be exposed to driving rain or snow.
I got the model that has a heated pad and upon testing (per instructions), it works well. The pad heats well and does not put out excessive heat. I will likely feed my outdoor cat by placing the food bowl inside the house so she can become familiar with it. I will also leave one of the clear plastic doors off for a few days until she gets comfortable being inside, then I will install the door (velcro strip). Maybe then she will learn to push on the plastic door to come and go.
