PollyPoxPollyPox: These drywall anchors are horrible. The first thing I noticed was that these are not made of the same sturdy material that the better ones are made of; instead, they are not really opaque but rather slightly translucent. I still hoped for the best, because the shape is very similar to the more expensive ones. The material, however, is SO soft that you can't use the drill point to make a hole in the drywall... so... you have to drill a pilot hole. This style of anchor is DESIGNED to be able to self-drill a pilot hole. But, I didn't want to return them, so I went ahead and drilled the pilot hole with my drill. The anchors accommodate a Phillips-end bit/screwdriver, so I used the best-fitting bit to finish the job. Unfortunately, the plastic is SO SOFT that I wasn't able to screw the anchor completely into the drywall... only about half-way. The plastic head of the anchor STRIPPED and the only thing I could do was to keep screwing so that my drill bit became embedded, at which time I was able to back the entire POS out of the gaping hole... and then free my screwdriver bit out of the plastic. AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME! So sorry I chose these. **NEW** See my attached pix. The 'hole'...

Anthony J. Becan: Very good quality drywall screw anchors. They work especially well for replacing the smaller plastic achors that have pulled out. Most times they can use the same hole since these are a bit larger diameter

Amazon Customer: I have used many of these anchors over the years. Generally you can 'drill' these in. The alloy that these are made from is quite soft. When setting these in two layer drywall they strip out. You have to first predrill.... which defeats the purpose of self drilling anchors. So these ones i will NOT order again.

jiwen624: I would say this anchor screw saved my life! I need to install curtain rods for my new house and have tried 2-3 different types of anchors on my wall, all of which are miserably failed. I mean I can easily pull them out.
However, this one works like a charm: it's easy to install without the need to drill a hole in advance, you just need to screw them into your drywall and it's very strong. This is a must-buy if you need to install something to your drywall.

Englands: These dry wall anchors are incredibly handy. My wife and I purchased our first home 6 months ago, and I have been doing all kinds of minor little projects like installing curtain rods and baby gates. These have been the most useful of any tool or fastener I have bought in that time. You literally just grab your drill and a Phillips head bit and drive the anchor right into the dry wall. No need to drill a pilot hole with the appropriate size bit and then hammer one in. I LOVE these things. I tell my wife constantly how much I love them, and she is definitely getting tired of hearing it haha. One thing I would mention is that if you rent, these DO make a larger hole than a traditional plastic dry wall anchor, so repairing the hole later might require some additional spackling skill.

Mr Dax Ryn: This handy box contains the following:
30 sets of M4x20 screws and anchors
20 sets of M4.2x25 screws and anchors
The plastic anchors do not seem as high quality as in the hardware stores, but they are close, and more affordable.

Motohick: I have skim coated sheetrock (plaster) which has a very hard surface to penetrate through. I didn't have any problem with the anchors, I just used my Makita and made sure that I put enough pressure on it to start the anchor. And the anchor flanges installed flush to the surface. After reading reviews where the interference between the screw in the anchor was too tight and caused problems, I put a little spray grease in the anchors and had no problems with the screws. Of course, I wouldn't think of doing this kind of project without my impact driver, one of the best investments I've made.

Alaskan Cat: some seem to work better than others, not sure if it's product or installer knowledge, but works for my projects most of the time.

C. Noel: We move every few years due to career needs and so it seems like I am constantly having to patch holes and hang pictures. This anchor leaves a much more manageable hole than a traditional drywall anchor, and feels more secure. When I first received it I was disappointed that there were no instructions but I simply screwed the anchor in with a screw driver then screwed the screw into the anchor, no drilling necessary. It also comes in a nice storage box to keep it all organized for future use.
