Lenny The Wrench: I gave this to my daughter. My first granddaughter 'ran' with it, and was 'fluent' in ASL by age 1 year. She (now 4 years old) taught my second granddaughter last year. They sign to each other now! This is a GREAT skill to teach in the formitive years so that they will be able to communicate with each other and persons who are deaf/mute!

Destiny: Some of these signs are different than what I learned many years ago. I suppose like any language, it's all in the interpretation.

Mandy: I have to say I love this book! My four month old loves the pictures, and it was so easy for me to recall the pictures in my mind that I took to remembering every sign in just a few views. So now every depiction in the book is used for each of the corresponding actions that take place in our day to day lives. I have an odd feeling that my son is trying to do the milk sign, because he flails his left arm while opening and closing his hand on my shoulder when I am holding him while he waits for his bottle to warm. He's always been vocal about being hungry. Always giving quite a few warning yelps before he burst out crying, and now he's adopted this new hand gesture of his. I honestly believe if you spend the time with your baby and incorporate all the signs and keep it constant that there won't be any problems with him/her catching on pretty quickly.
A friend of mine has a 17 month old baby who still only knows one sign, but I noticed she doesn't incorporate any of the signs in their daily routine. It takes repetition, and lots of it. This book is a fun introductions to baby sign language. As my little guy gets older, I will try and add a more diverse set of sign language.
