KW: This is such a great book! I read it while I was experiencing intense grief and it made me feel less alone.

Tita: It's raw, poetic and chaotic. Didion bares her soul candidly about such a harrowing moment in her life, that we can't help but join her in this experience. It's spellbinding. I just couldn't put it down. Highly recommended for all those who have gone through or wish to further understand the grieving process.

Gypsy At Last: I was familiar with Joan Didion, but hadn't read much of her work in recent years. Saw a documentary on her life and knew her husband died suddenly. This book contains her thoughts on the year following his death. I connected with this almost viscerally. She is saying out loud what most of us are feeling and thinking. Highly recommend.
Her book, Blue Nights, is also amazing and hit home with me. Her daughter died shortly after her husband and she's spot on with her feelings about that loss as well.

Germaine De Peralta: I'm not too crazy about Joan Didion. She's too much in her head. She's a dry writer. Sorry to say this - cuz she has won so many awards. Just not my type of writer.

Maura Cullen: This book was raw and real and well written. It was a heavy read as you can imagine but moving.

Gabrield: Didion is a brillant observer. Her almost detached, analytical way of documenting her process of grief and mourning is likely to resonate with readers whose experience, fears and anxieties have proven, wholly or in part, immune to denial.

Rick Brown: Beautifully written and authentic about her experience with tremendous loss. Never sappy or melodramatic-just real.
