Michael A. Weber: The album Spilt Milk by the band Jellyfish is the best album most people have never heard. This prog/power-pop masterpiece was released in 1993: wedged in-between the big-hair metal surge of the late 1980’s and the burgeoning grunge explosion that would dominate much of the 1990’s. Spilt Milk simply did not have the commercial appeal required for promotion and air-play in 1993. Since then, both metal and grunge have long been replaced by hip-hop, modern electronica, and the myriad of formula-driven, beat-laden, auto-tuned disposable pop singles of today. Running counter to the mainstream musical trend in the early 1990’s, Jellyfish founders Andy Sturmer and Roger Joseph Manning Jr. were obsessively determined to write and produce the kind of music they loved best: the result was Spilt Milk.
Interestingly, in 2020, music industry heavyweights like Rick Beato and Warren Huart are now using their You Tube platforms to praise the album Spilt Milk as one of their personal favorites of all-time. So, based on my respect for respect for fellows like Beato and Huart, and my fondness for the only Jellyfish album of which I was aware (Bellybutton), I sought out Spilt...

thecrackedbrassbell: "Loved Bellybutton. Hate this. Charity shop, here I come." Did I actually write this a few years ago? I didn't give it chance. A masterpiece ... even better than the debut. I was wrong. So sorry.

Stuart Jefferson: THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE 2015 2 CD EDITION OF "SPILT MILK" BY JELLYFISH.
As I wrote for the review of the new 2 CD set of the band's first album, if you're reading this chances are you're a Jellyfish fan, and have been patiently waiting (as I have) for this new edition to be released. The remastered sound is very good--clean and immediate without any signs of compression. The 15 page booklet has an essay on the album with quotes from band members, along with some good period photos of the band. And like the booklet in the 2 CD version of their first album, there's track-by-track quotes by the band from Roger Manning and Andy Sturmer on the original album's songs. The discs snap inside a tri-fold cardboard package that has recording information on an inside panel.
This version of the album contains the original album plus a number of demos of songs plus a few live tracks that have all been around before now on various albums--"The Ghost At Number One", "Nintendo: White Knuckle Scorin'", "Fan Club" (2002), and one tune, from "For The Love Of Harry: Everybody Sings Nilsson". Track 17 on Disc Two (a message to fan club members) was issued only for members of the Jellyfish...

GrowlKingBear: This is one of the finest records ever made! Incorporating elements of Queen, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys, Jellyfish should have been the next legendary super group, yet sadly went unnoticed because they arrived at a time when grunge was king, and pop was a dirty word in music.
With extremely intelligent lyrics and infectious melodies draped in luscious harmonies, Jellyfish stands out above the rest!
Spilt Milk is a MUST own album, and should be in EVERY collection!!!

Devon Geezer: My NUMBER ONE album of all time (yes, even above The Beatles!). Absolutely perfect and not a duff track on it.
I never EVER tire of listening to this album and it breaks my heart that Jellyfish were criminally ignored by most of the record-buying public. Shame on you! If you're a fan of intelligent well-crafted songs with delicious, poppy hooks, superb musicianship and intriguing sing-a-long lyrics, please buy this album! Imagine popping The Beatles, Queen, ELO and Cheap Trick into a blender: a quick whisk and...hey presto! Jellyfish! Every listen reveals something new to me and the production is second to none. There's not a lot you can buy these days for £6.99 and I promise you, it's worth every penny. You won't be disappointed! (Now, whatever DID happen to lead singer Andy Sturmer?! Andy, if you're reading this, get in touch!)
