Abby S: I have 2 young children, so figuring out if we're overreacting or if they have an actual fever is an exercise we do infrequently in our household. Bought this thermometer as a backup just in case (don't want to have to run out to CVS in the middle of the night if our primary thermometer breaks).

Fast forward a couple months pass since the purchase and one of the kiddos is little sluggish and feels warm -- granted it still feels like summer and the rain forests are on fire, so we bust this thermometer to test it out. Read the instructions, took several readings with the forehead and ear method respectively and the readings varied from normal to feverish (~96 to 101) which was indicated by a back light of green or red if normal or feverish. Replaced the batteries -- maybe the juice is running low and the thermometer is having trouble on its first day on the job -- nope, still readings all over the place!! Ugh, Amazon how could you fail me? Anyway used our old thermometer (also a forehead thermometer) which consistently read around 100.3; the kid was running a low grade fever.

Not sure how anyone can use this. The colorized backlight of green or red if it is within a...

Anne S: This thermometer is perfect for kids and people who have places to be. My husband really hates waiting around for things and it's hard to get him to take time for himself and make sure he's doing okay. This thermometer quickly and effectively takes his temperature so he doesn't have to wait around for a long time, which is a huge plus both for him and for me! We don't have kids yet but when we do I'm sure this is going to be a huge help because no kid wants to stick something in their mouth and wait for a whole minute just to be told they are sick. This thermometer is easy to use and perfect for simply and quickly making sure they're okay.

Meg M.: I love this thermometer. It works right out of the package, I glanced at the instructions but it's very intuitive. The instruction booklet has some very helpful information, such as ideal temperature and what the temperature means for certain ages. (Even a "light fever" is dangerous for babies <6 months). This would be great for new moms!
There are three modes, head - ear - house. It measures the ambient temperature, can take the temp on the forehead or via inner ear temperature. It appears to be accurate on first test (67 in my house, normal temp taking my own). It beeps when it's ready, but you can mute it. This is a great feature! All in all, a great product.

JenandJason: I love, love, love this thermometer! We had a forehead thermometer that always seemed to run a bit cool and was a bit difficult to figure out how to use properly (the low readings could have been user error). We swapped it out for an ear thermometer, which was very easy to use, but required you to buy little plastic sheaths that fit over the tip or it wouldn't work - the kids found out if you aim and hit the release button the sheaths will fire like a little projectile (fun, but not terribly useful, if you're trying to take your toddler's temp and she's trying to shoot you in the forehead). This thermometer can be used either way, and also to detect the temp of objects such as bathwater. In ear mode it doesn't require extra parts and is a very smooth surface, so I feel it is easy to clean and disinfect. I only had small variances between ear and forehead mode, so I feel more confident that it is accurate. It comes in a nice little chamois bag to keep it clean. I wish I had found this 6 years ago when I had my first!
