Alphonse: Just got these because my cats are clearly getting a bit restless and I wanted to find ways to stimulate their hunting instincts. These balls were cheap and seemed to do the job, but my cats either haven't figured it out yet or are scared by it, haha. It might take time to adjust, but otherwise (like others have pointed out) you just have to squeeze the midsection to pop it open and align the notches to close it. It's pretty thick plastic so shouldn't be destroyed too easily. Fingers crossed my cats change their minds soon!

RO: My cat goes crazy for this thing. He'll roll it all over the concrete floors and looks like he's playing soccer. He loves it more than oblong shaped ones that don't roll as well. Even though I think they say "pry", gently squeezing the seam like a plastic easter egg makes them easily pop right open. It's been months of near daily opening and closing using this method and neither one has broken.

Mel: My cat likes these and it slows down his eating (slightly!). It took him a few days to figure it out and once he did, he was all over it. He mastered the art of getting food out of this within a few weeks.

Rebecca:
This is my second time ordering these, as the first set was inevitably lost during a move, but I'm so glad I bought more! These are a great way to slow down my kitty who will scarf down his food otherwise. I had considered a food dispensing tower, but they're so expensive, and this works like a charm.
The only downside to these is that they are VERY stiff. It can be pretty hard to get them open, and beware the pinch hazard, as when these things snap shut, they snap tight.
Even with the stiffness, these are probably one of the best purchases I've made for my cat. They hold 1/4 cup of food, which is what he gets at mealtime anyways, and the bright green makes them easier to find behind furniture.

Guadalupe P.D: El material del producto es bueno, pero el orifico es muy grande por lo tanto si se le pone alimento como croquetas se sale muy facilmente.

Tzipora:
I have a cat who loves to hunt treats. She has a number of different treat puzzles and balls like this. I've heard these sorts of things are recommended for keeping your cats entertained and because it helps mimic hunting food in the wild. That said, usually my cat is a bit too smart for her own good and figures these kinds of toys out fast and how to get treats out in a matter of minutes.
So I was looking for a new treat dispenser to keep her challenged. The price was right. Unfortunately, she just isn't a fan. For a cat who, as mentioned, often learns to exploit these kinds of toys and get treats out quick, I've found treats lingering int the ball a week later. I'm obviously not a feline so I can only guess as far as why she dislikes this one or how it different from the ones she does like. I think there's a couple of main issues here.
- The ball is too round. You'll notice other prominent and popular treat based toys here on Amazon and elsewhere tend to have unusual shapes and some, such a the mouse shaped varieties by Friskies and Temptations (two toys she's always enjoyed, toys even my parents elderly and lazy cat enjoys as well) also have...

Mom: Holes in this ball are not big enough for the treats. Our cat would get frustrated that nothing was coming out. Bought the Food ball slightly bigger and He loves it.

Shining_star: Bought 3 years ago for my kitten to encourage kitty to exercise more whilst rewarding her with some treats. she spent ages batting them about to get at the treats. Good item to keep kitty entertained whilst you can't be with them for a few hours due to work etc.

Sweetie: I must mention my cat only plays with this when I put treats either wise. It doesn't get played with, when I do put treats do. He gets really entertained rolling it around hoping to get 1 treat out. It comes with 2 of them and it very sturdy just a tiny bit hard to open it. But the treats can be shoved right in so not problems. I recommend this for entertainment purposes, not all cats will like it. It serves its purpose just as well as a kong.

J. BradburyJ. Bradbury: Wish I could have give this review a negative number. I would not recommend this product for three reasons; 1) very hard to open to fill, 2) even more hard to close without spilling the food and 3) most important only very small or tiny food can come of small hole. My cat kept meowing when no food came out. Save your money it’s also non refundable so can’t return it.
