Mark Asch: The information printed on the raft says that each chamber should be inflated to 0.5 psi, which is ridiculous, and is barely enough for the chambers to feel full. If the raft is strong enough to hold 3 passengers and be operated with a trolling motor, then it is surely strong enough to hold at least 1 psi in each chamber, but even that feels very flimsy and squishy as you move around while using the raft. This is even more the case on a hot day in the sun, when the material the raft is made of feels like a 3-ply balloon, making it hard to gauge how much air to fill it with. Also, the use of a cheap stem valve for the floor chamber is very disappointing. It is frustrating to use when filling the chamber and even worse when emptying it. The Challenger is a lower-end raft, but really, how much more could it possibly cost Intex to use a Boston valve in the floor? Then there's the oars. They are short, the plastic push-in connectors that hold the sections together can slip out of place, and the black plastic rings that are attached to keep the oars from slipping out of the oar locks are very annoying to deal with. When you're not rowing the boat, you have to remove these tight rings in...

Tressa McCune: I was very impressed with the quality for the price of this raft. The pump makes inflation so easy too. We did keep the pump with us for the first use as i think it continued to stretch a bit and needed a few more pumps here and there. We used this for a rafting trip down a river to hold all our camping gear and it held up great even in low water where it did drag across the rocks and such.

StacyStacy: I get about one-two years of hard use out of these before the seams start to fail and they can no longer be patched. . Pretty good for $50. I’ve bought four so far and caught hundreds of fish and carried them hundreds of miles on my back. A must have is some Airstop PVC sealant(available on Amazon). You will get small leaks but they are easily patched. The included plastic oars are crap. They break with any real paddling effort. Intex sells some aluminum oars for cheap that are included with their bigger boats(Challenger 3). I bought a set and I’ve never broken them. I did buy a challenger 3 once and found the aluminum oars are way too short for the 3 man boat. They work just perfect for the two man version. Go figure! I have also tried the Intex Seahawk 2 boat. It is slightly bigger and heavier but the useless pole holders make it harder to roll up and fit in a backpack. The challenger 2 is 3 lbs lighter and just as tough. The orange Intex Explorer boats are much thinner and delicate. Not suitable for extended use or kid friendly. The PVC on them is so thin they cannot be pumped up tight enough to sit on the sides.

robertswww: My son wanted a raft to use on a nearby lake. We decided on this Intex Challenger 2 Boat Set, because it had a 2-person capacity and came with the air pump, grab line, and 2 oars at a reasonable price.
It features 3 chambers as follows... The 1st chamber is the inflatable floor. It is similar to an inflatable air mattress or pool lounge float. It has the standard plug with cap. The 2nd chamber goes around the perimeter of the floor and has a Boston Valve. The 3rd chamber goes around the outside of the raft and also has a Boston Valve. The raft can still float if one of the outer chambers is punctured (chamber 2 or 3). The Boston valves are nice because they have a 2-in-1 cap. Remove only the top cap to insert air, and remove the bottom cap to remove air.
The dual-action air pump appears to be made from cheap plastic but worked well. It puts air in on both the fore and aft strokes. The raft came with 2 plastic oars that come in 2-pieces (plus a connector in the middle), and are 4-foot long when assembled. There are 2 oar holders on each side of the raft to store the oars when not in use. There is also an oar lock on each side to hold the oars in position while rowing....
