Tim Burke: I enjoyed this book so much and learned practical and helpful tips on how to manage distractions within my life. The book focuses on internal and external distractions, the main one being technology. As a college student who has a hard time focusing and always gets distracted I feel like i’ve learned a lot from this book and really enjoyed reading it. Thanks Nir!

Helvis: ”If we want to master distraction, we must learn to deal with discomfort”
Every distraction we allow into our lives is alleviating the discomfort of anxiety or other stressors in our work and/or personal life. As a famous organization says, the first step is admitting you have a problem. Nir Eyal gives us a comprehensive overview of the psychology of distraction and how to manage both internal and external stressors.
I can’t do justice to his writing in a single review, but much effort is focused on changing how we think about things. Simple changes of thought such as, “it’s been two hours since I’ve had coffee” can be replaced with “I’ll have an opportunity for coffee in an hour.” From abstinence to anticipation is some of the fine tuning that can change our view of ourselves and our stressors and help alleviate the anxiety that precludes distraction.
Self-care/compassion are crucial parts of this as well and not being a harsh self-critic.
As with anything worth doing, these exercises will take some time and refinement to determine how they best work for you.
Eyal provides nuts and bolts steps to take to minimize distraction to...

Tom Venuto, Author of Burn the Fat, Feed The Muscle: Indistractible by Nir Eyal is timely, important and I can't think of anyone with a "smart" phone and internet connection who wouldn't benefit from reading it.
Contrary to what you might predict, Eyal doesn't completely blame technology for our distraction problems and the negative consequences they cause. He explains the underlying issue and notes that if you don't take care of that root cause, you'll simply find something else to distract you (even without the tech).
Spoiler: The root cause of distraction is our desire to escape discomfort, not our devices per se. (It's as internal as it is external). With that warning prefaced, he explains how external triggers are also a big problem.
After describing the problem, he gets into solutions. The book is full of them, but here are a handful of the ones I decided I needed to work on more, or I have implemented for the first time:
- Identify and write down your distraction triggers.
- Use time-blocking (and schedule time for yourself first)
- Hack back your email by: sending fewer emails, set office hours for email, unsubscribe, answer in batches (stop constant rechecking), answer...

ChiraagChiraag: This is a great and most importantly practical book which helps you understand why you get distracted and what you can do about it.
In today's world, everyone is using technology in some way or form. The problem people have is that Technology ends up using them. Nir Eyal knows how technology can be used to capture people's attention. His previous book - Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products is still a #1 Best Seller in the Amazon.co.uk Sales and Marketing Research Category even though it was written in 2014. It shows people how they can build habit-forming products and covers some great stuff on user psychology.
Whilst this is great for companies who want people to consume their products, it is not great for the individuals who just can't navigate this world of distraction. Enter, this book which is there to support in building skills that help become indistractable. This becomes and extremely important skill which people need but they haven't quite figured out how to.
This book has a different take and doesn't advocate a digital detox or even mindfulness and meditation. It helps you actually understand the triggers causing your behaviour and provides a...

Luis Octavo López y López: Es un libro interesante, con claves que resultan obvias pero que por su cotidianeidad perdemos de vista. Sin distracción puede ser una buena guía para relacionarte con la intencionalidad al hacer las cosas.
