J: A shovel for this price could be flimsy, but this one is fantastic. My only complaint is the ridges along the sides, while they do allow for you to scoop a great amount of ash at once (so wonderful, and means less ash dust in the air), it's quite difficult to get the inside edges of the front of the oven. I might make a small alteration to make this easier, or use a brush or something. Very happy with this purchase.

The Dude: Something like this is pretty basic, and within reason almost any of them out there will work just fine. This one is no exception; it is exactly what you would expect for this kind of tool and works great as intended. What really impresses me though, is that it actually came in cheaper than the rest but yet was still made in North America (Canada). That's right, I was totally (but pleasantly) surprised to see that it was made in Canada when I got it. I really expected to see China listed instead. So yeah, now I'm extra glad I bought this one.
