Bo ChenBo Chen:
I am a turtle conservationist and would independently recommend this filter for shallow water enclosure, Water level <15cm
Below are some bullet points to share:
1) the main part this filter package can improve is the suction cup, I spent $5 to get lots of double sided suction cups on Amazon and solved this problem easily.
2) remember if you use shower, the water doesn’t go through the filter so it won’t be filtered. The filter itself is very quiet and thin (saving space)
3) water is crystal clean under easy maintenance. What I did is I didn’t use the thick sponge. I filled the whole filter with extra bio balls I bought to establish a fantastic biological filtration, and put the thin sponge on top to capture debris. In this case in the future I only need to replace the sponge on top and won’t have to take out the filter.
I have left this review because I truly like this filter’s design and don’t want this product to fail or to be stopped producing one day.

Angel: I had the filter for over a year and it worked ok. Plenty of cons as well as some pros. Quiet enough that it didn't bother anyone and I've had fish and turtles forever so I don't have an issue taking things apart to get them to work. I bought this to filter my redfooted tortoise's water dish and she is a big girl. It kept her water cleaner than not having it but the spouts on top kept clogging preventing the water flow or the bottom clogged to stop circulating the sediment so I was taking it apart to clean once a week. Well it clogged and I didn't catch it and unplug it like normal so it met its bitter end because the motor burnt out. I will say the suction cups were useless so I had to create an eleaborate way to secure the filter so my girl didn't tip it over in the first ten seconds. I liked the flat bottom because if the bottom is rounded at all my girl kicks the filter out and burns out the motor that way. That is the only reason this filter lasted longer than the last one. Overall it may work better for a smaller turtle or tortoise or little semi-aquatic frogs but be sure to find a better way to secure it to the side because the suction cups provided won't...

Mary B.: I had to order more double sided suction cups to hold it up as the two it came with wasn't enough and it would fall over. I expected my water to be clear...and it is clouded. The filter is working but not doing a good job to keep water clear.

RT:
First the good. The unit sets up easy, has good water suction and flow, and is relatively quiet as far as tank filters go.
Now for the bad.
It does zero filtering and is a flawed design that has no chance of working except in a very narrow range of applications.
Water is drawn from the bottom, pumped up the side in an enclosed tube or straw and then sprayed out of the top. It is advertised as being able to filter or rain effect. You should know up front that if you sue the rain effect no filtration happens at all.
However - even worse is when in the filter position it still doesn't work. The intended filter path is for the rain head to sprinkle water down it should flow through the filter medium and then be evacuated out of a bottom spray tube. And I suppose in practice a very very minor amount of water may follow this path. The vast majority hits the filter medium and since water follows the path of least resistance, and the sides are open it simply spills out and down the side of the housing bypassing the filter system entirely.
From looking prior to purchase I assumed the suction motor was located so as to force and draw the water...

Lisa K.: The filter works great. It is VERY loud when the "arm" is out, BUT you can position it right over the filter and it is not so loud.
