DCGUY: The portable A/C exhaust hose life expectancy will usually last about ten years. The material in the hose tends to become brittle and tear apart after several years of use. The original hose on my portable unit started to tear apart and break at several junctions of the hose. I taped over the tears and breaks, but they became too numerous after ten years of use. I got a similar replacement on Amazon that has the same diameter and length (when fully contracted). Replacement item fits like the original and easy to install between the exhaust hole from the unit out to the window slide vent. The main things to note when ordering is the direction of installing the hose (clockwise or counter clockwise) and overall diameter of the hose. The majority of the portable units are counter clockwise (like the one I have) and 5.9 inches diameter. No more hot air leaks from the A/C compressor exhaust to inside the room. The durability is unknown since I just installed it.
