David Goostree: Before buying this I bought two others without realizing they weren't back-lit. They worked just fine, but they were hard for Me to read. This one IS back-lit and very easy to read for Me, and they are ALL so very inexpensive that they are all very good testers so I kept all three, but this one is My favorite. I see reviews saying these types of testers are not accurate, but all three of mine all give Me the exact same reading.

MSWS: We have hard water and this was invaluable to test our water before and after installing a 3 stage reverse osmosis filtration unit under our kitchen sink. The booklet that comes with it is easy to follow and gives you clear instructions on how to use the tester to get accurate readings. Green lcd backlight indicates good water quality while a red backlight lcd shows the water is not of good quality. Our first reading showed the levels of sediment in our hard water was far above the acceptable levels.
After the reverse osmosis filter was installed we took another reading and it gave us a green light showing it was well within the acceptable levels. Use it to test your well water, water at a drinking fountain or even double check that the purified water you purchase from a store is actually purified. It’s small and comes in a convenient case to carry with you. You can take it on vacation and check water at the hotel you say at. Gives quick accurate reading in seconds.

Scott C. Yates: Works for the levels of Total Dissolved Solids, which is the main thing I got it for. Works quickly and from what I can tell, pretty accurately.

Weirdly, however, it does not seem to be accurate on getting the temperature right. The temp isn't as important, of course, but it's odd to me that it gets it wrong.

But for the important thing, it does work and works quickly and easily.

Cross-checked it at a pool supply store twice; minor discrepancy of 150 ppm.
Still, it's significantly more accurate than the cell generator board by 500-1000 ppm.
User-friendly, easy-to-read, consistent, and instant measurements.
Should've bought it 10 yrs ago.

J.A.: I've lived in this house for 20yrs now and I was always told that the water was great it's absolutely clear and it has been tested by the province of Saskatchewan in Canada and it's always been considered very good BUT this says that it is almost undrinkable, there it is mostly definitely not good, says should be 1 to 10 parts per million or up to 50 - 70 ppm at most, says that mine is above 275 ppm and 564 square cm on the other measurement .... so ?
