Home-Made Equipment Bone Saw with Protective Sheath

Urban Rancher: Bought this for deer hunting this year bc I wanted a lightweight portable bone saw to carry in the field. It's pretty open country where I hunt so I don't need to carry a pack. I bought it only with the intention to cut through the pelvis when gutting a deer. I did do the job, but it is a bit flimsy and you gave to go slow. I also used it to cut the breast bone a bit to open it up and it worked. I wouldn't use it for any bigger bones and you aren't going to get through a leg with it, but if you just want something small to get you through the gutting process this will do the trick.

Amazon Customer: I field dressed 5 deer over a few years and the saw snapped on the 5th deer. Otherwise the saw was sharp and worked as expected up until failure.

Moby: I’ve used a Gerber version of this saw for 30 years to split pelvic bones on venison. I bought 3 of these saws as gifts for my sons, and they appear to be equal quality to my Gerber. I like the angled handles over Gerber’s 90 degree tee handle. The majority of force on Gerber is towards the pinky finger with minimal force at the index finger. The angled handle has a more equal force distribution across the fingers.

Paul: I used this product to cut through a pelvis of a deer and I was a bit disappointed. I like that the tip is rounded so you don’t puncture the bowel, but the teeth were not very sharp and they clogged frequently.
I bought this saw because I didn’t like cleaning the saw on my leatherman. But I quickly found out that the leatherman was still a better option. This product has lower quality steel so the blade needs to be thicker to maintain strength, whereas my leatherman saw is thin and strong, allowing for a more powerful and faster cut. This product is definitely better than not having a saw, but I don’t plan on using it in the future.
