JT: This product was good quality and all of my birds loved it.
It's not for us though.
I bought it because traditional safflower was becoming too messy at our feeders with shells everywhere and I thought the thinner shell of golden safflower would perhaps blow away easier. It did not blow away any easier, and birds have actually gone through this a lot faster than the traditional, so we had more of a mess. Further, starlings and house sparrows were happy to indulge, which defeats the purpose of using safflower for us. I think their beaks were able to crack the thinner shell.
Again, great product if it's what you want to us. It just didn't serve our purposes and I wanted to share our experience in case anyone else was planning to try it for the same reason as us.

Becky B: A favorite at the feeders for our favorite wild birds! We were feeding a high quality songbird blend which drew many birds, but unfortunately it was also a favorite of starlings, cowbirds and crows. Those bully birds were eating us out of house and home, and were running off all of the more desirable birds. We made the switch to this golden safflower seed, and also provide black oil sunflower seed (in squirrel resistant feeders) and the change has worked wonders. The bully birds left almost immediately once we took away the suet and songbird blend food. No more starlings, cowbirds or crows! But now LOTS of gold finches, titmouse, woodpeckers, cardinals, bluebirds, buntings, chickadees, etc., are back and happily eating at our feeders. Robins, sparrows and doves eat what is dropped below, as do the squirrels. This feed is high quality and well worth the money spent.

Prisoner of Planet Moron: If you are pestered by hyper-acrobatic squirrels, as I am, these golden safflower seeds are a solution. Birds love them, squirrels avoid them. I have several bird feeding stations, and those that are susceptible to squirrel attack have been converted to golden safflower seeds.
My sizeable bird population now has a choice of black oil sunflower seeds, shelled peanuts, golden safflower seeds, and suet. The birds seem to love having all the variety!
Not cheap, but highly effective and highly recommended.
