syd: My dog responds great to this. Only downfall is it’s hard to clip on and off

lettie doran: We rescued a pup and brought her to the land of squirrels and bunnies. In addition to the wildlife on walks, she lunged at cars. Between all that she was giving my shoulder some issues. My niece recommended this and walks are amazing. I was hesitant but she pulled one time and there was none of the hacking bark and endless tugging with regular collars so I’d have to say it’s MORE HUMANE than tugging on a regular collar. You have to measure and make sure it’s appropriate and I don’t pull on her to get her to go anywhere, the collar only tightens when she tugs or lunges inappropriately, which is RARE now. She’s excited about getting the collar on for walks and she seems happier on the walk since we aren’t at constant odds (I know I’m happier!)

Vanessa: Great collar but I ordered the wrong size. Oops! Quality is great.

Alisson Von Der Lane: I should have bought this collar 10 years ago!!! Really makes a huge difference with my dogs behavior on walks!
Took a long time to ship though...

Joe D.: Best Training collar on the market I have used sprenger collars on all my dogs, 3 shepherds and a Pompsky. My dogs attitude changes as soon as collar is own, I don’t even have to snap anymore as dog behaves when collar is on.

Amazon Customer: This collar has worked really well for teaching my dog not to pull. It doesn’t hurt her unless she yanks against it (which she only ever did once or twice) so I feel good about using it on her. She won’t pull hard which makes walks much more manageable. I tried a few things before this and I wish I had just started with this collar.
A couple of things to note though: first, the size of the collar is the outer diameter so if you measure your dog’s neck you need to get a collar that’s at least a couple inches bigger. For example, my dog has a 16 in neck so I got a 16 in collar but it was too small and I had to buy some extra links to get it to fit.
Second, the collar can occasionally pop off because of the nature of the links. If any one of them gets partially flipped around then it can just pop out when the dog pulls against it. So you will need to check the collar each time before you put it on. It was so frustrating when my dog got away like that that after it happened a couple of times I started using a carabiner to clip the prong collar onto her regular collar (through the extra loop opposite the clasp) so that if the collar popped off she would still be connected...

Saptadeep P.: With the right technique, the prong can be an extremely valuable tool in setting a strong foundation of trust and leash manners with your dog.
Coming back to the quality, Herm Sprenger is probably one of the best bets when it comes to safety as well as make. There are many cheap Chinese models and knockoffs of the same, please stay away from them!

Amazon Customer: Awesome item. My border collie would jump and nip me when we walked and this collar controls her. It is not cruel as she does not pull against it. She feels the pressure of the collar and behaves. Love it!

Barb W: The only way to walk a dog who pulls. Or to even walk multiple dogs together. When sized and used properly, these collars do NOT hurt or pinch your dog. They only get a quick reminder Pinch when they, the dog, PULL on the leash - which means the dog is misbehaving. The pinch reminds them to STOP pulling and get back in line and heel or walk properly.
Before this collar, walking just one of my dogs was a nightmare - so I just avoided it. Now I can walk all 3 of them at once! A 100# GSD, 50# Mix, and a 12# Chihuahua. They get excited when they see their collars come out because they know it means we are going for a walk. I put the GSD on a single leash in one hand (or my husband has him if he is home), and the other 2 are together on a double leash in my other hand. And they all walk together nicely, ignoring other dogs, distractions & annoyances that would have priorly had any of them running off leash away from me. And yes, I had tried other methods 1st, such as the Thunder Leash Type mechanisms. 1 dog was just too stubborn to give in no matter which position we tried them in. And I say THEM because we had to buy & replace several of them, because if the dogs ever...
