Michelle Duarte: This collar helped a lot with pulling but it is so cheaply made that it broke after two weeks. It broke mid walk … yikes!

ThePrettyFool: Trying to save money I figured I would give this prong collar with buckle a try. Ultimately, the buckle interferes with its ability to pinch properly, which made it completely ineffective. My dog was a rescue who is very dog aggressive, so having this collar not work is a recipe for disaster in the wrong hands. I will say that the actual removable prong links themselves are not terrible and the little rubber tips that come with it are a bonus. So in the end since I'm "thrifty", AKA-cheap, I just purchased a quality, small collar without the buckle since they cost less and used the links from this one to make it the correct size for my dog. Works like a charm. But no, I would not recommend this collar as-is. It doesn't work as it claims and that can be very dangerous.

Wicked87Wicked87: I have 2 dogs that are different sizes. I bought two of these in hopes that I could take a couple of links from one to add to the other to make it big enough for both dogs. It turns out my smaller dog's neck had grown since I last measured it preventing me from removing enough links to make the other one big enough for the bigger dog. However, they work great for the smaller dog. So far it is working good enough. We have only used it a few times, and it stops him from pulling. We only use it when the dogs tend to pull, which is when we go to a place where they get to play freely in a fenced in yard. So far, my biggest problem is that one of the collars smelled like marijuana, but I just let it air out, and it isn't too bad now. I really like the buckle because it makes it easier to put on the dog. I have another one that doesn't have a buckle, and it is hard to get on and off sometimes because I have to unhook a link. Overall, it works well for my needs so far.

nowuknow: I wanted to like this collar, and it is better than a regular collar for a dog who pulls, but there is a major flaw in my opinion. This collar was not working as effectively as a prong collar should to prevent pulling. My dog trainer examined this collar and did not like it. The Herm Sprenger type of collar is better because it tightens more equally around the circumference making it both safer and more effective. If you compare the two collars, the Sprenger has chains that slip through loops and then connect allowing them to slide tighter with ease, while this collar has fabric bands that come together but do not slide through loops and tighten less effectively. Also the fabric eventually frays, while the Sprenger will probably last forever. There are Sprenger type prong collars that have quick releases. I got one from petco, though Amazon probably has them. I suggest making sure it has a quick release because you don't want to leave a prong collar on when not walking, as it can cause irritation to the skin.

The one advantage this collar has over the Sprenger is that it's easy and simple to use. The Sprenger type I have is also easy to use once you learn how but may be...

Linda L. Oliphant: We had gotten a dog from a family who was moving out of state and couldn’t take their almost three lab/husky mix. Belle was slow to respond to commands and would bolt, which was a major problem for me. This collar is serving its purpose, otherwise walking her would have been near impossible for me on the long term.

In just a few days, there was a noticeable difference. Now in less than a month, she settles into our easy gait within minutes. The impulse to bolt when she sees a squirrel or another dog is still there; but I can easily manage those instances and I’m a 5’2” 68 yr old woman. She quickly responds to a gentle pull or one to the side. She doesn’t mind the collar, in fact, when I open the closet door she is right there because she knows we are going out. I do take it off immediately upon returning home.

It has a quick release so it comes off easily. I don’t have to pinch the prongs together which I have difficulty with due to some arthritis in my fingers on my right hand. One link had to be removed for a proper fit. Husband easily did this without tools. You do have to remove the plastic prong covers first. The collar does come with extra prong...
