Adam: Love Fluval filters, the 407 is perfect fit for small tanks. Add a FX6 and 200+ gal tanks stay crystal clear.

cristian: Tal como digo en el título.
Producto o marca de confianza.
Es muy silencioso por la potencia que tiene y aún más si lo tienes adentro un armario. No sé escucha nada.

Plastic: fairly nice filters, fairly easy to assemble and clean, relatively speaking these are quiet filters
swapped out a light switch today and turned power off, this is the first time I've noticed that they rattle horribly when on battery backup Computer Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
Note, this is a cosine wave UPS, but clearly Fluvals are sensitive to some minor difference, on UPS both Fluval filters (different models) rattle loudly. No it isn't air or sand in the filter. When back on grid power they go silent again. I tried it several times just to be sure, because this was a surprise.

James A. Boone: This is my second one and I oversized my thirty-gallon tank for this model. Very quiet and an energy saver. There is 2 hoses that come up the back, but that outweighs the troubles from inside the tank that occur, like water spilling into the tank and the small filters that you are forced to use. this system makes it easy to remove the bottom container without having to readjust the hoses are it is set up. There are 4 filtering methods in this system and if you don't put fish in the tank, technically it should last many years without filter changeouts, but I don't know that for sure. I like it for the ambiance.

Craig LawsCraig Laws: The media could not be loaded.  My 200 litre aquarium is just over 9 years old and since I set it up I’ve been using Fluval external canister filters. For the first few years I had a Fluval 206 model, as that was rated for 200 litre tanks. However it was working at capacity for all its life so when it expired I upgraded to the 306 model. I have a well-stocked tank so I need to ensure the filtration can cope with the demands, although I do also breed Bristlenose plecs and at any one time there’s around 30 of them in the tank and they help to keep the tank clean as well.

The 306 did a very good job of keeping the tank clean, but it also had a few weak points. The Aqua Stop valve that connects the inlet/outlet pipes to the filter is especially fragile in my opinion. The valve stoppers themselves work great, but the method that the valve clamps to the filter is not good. It uses a red plastic lever that you push down and latches onto something inside the filter. In theory this works perfectly well, but in practice it isn’t so great. It’s creating a seal to prevent water escaping, and as the filter gets older it requires greater pressure on the lever before it...

Amazon buyerAmazon buyer: I wrote a review before but opted to take it down as I had mixed thoughts at first. I have run fluval filters for over 11 years. At first I couldn’t get the 407 to stop producing micro bubbles. The above pics are from a 40 gallon overstocked community tank. There is another canister with matrix on this tank recently added for experiment with nitrate reduction. This fluval is the main filter. I am currently experimenting with k1 in this fluval.

First the good: this filter is a really nice upgrade from the 06 series. It’s stylish and the filter is VERY quiet compared to the 06. You won’t hear it at all in a cabinet. The edition of the red handle to lift the baskets is wonderful. The output is unmatched and I have tried Oase, Eheim etc. this blows them all away. The water will be CRYSTAL CLEAR as you will read from these other reviews esp with poly fill and one treatment of aqua clear from api to jump start the poly fill. I set mine up as follows: default foams, second basket polyfil, third and fourth basket with matrix. These filters utilize a lot of space for the prefilter and have the most surface area in foams compared to bottom top style like eheim. Therefore these...

Unihiron: Fit and finish and parts are great inside. Instructions not too bad. In my opinion, i think the tubing is a little bit hard to wrangle but it gets the job done. I like the adustible flow lever and its really easy to prime and start the siphon. I did quite a bit of reading and youtube watching before I made this purchase. I also know this filter is not a magic bullet to solve all problems.

Here's my filtration setup:
1 seachem tidal 55 stuffed with sponge.. why? additional flow, aireation, and purely mechanical filtration with some biological capability to break things down to nitrates, plus a good place to put filter floss of chemical media to absorb meds if needed. Also very quiet.

1 Fluval 207 canister filter with a focus on biological filtration and enphasis on keeping water as clear as possible before moving over the bio media.

The key to any canister filter is smart utilization of space. I will be 100% honest and say the bio media that comes with it is way too smooth and probably will not do a good job having enough surface area for groth of a good bacteria colony. For what its worth, if you do not try and optimize the potential surface area of the...
