DRD: The smallest bright bass hinges I could find at local hardware stores were too thick for the small display boxes I was making. Those hinges would dominate the appearance of the box too much and would need to be mortised into the wood to permit the lid to close without a gap if they were mounted in the way I intended. Furthermore, they would have cost something north of $4 each, and I had made a bunch of these display boxes for the grandkids. The hinges I bought from Amazon are simple, smaller and thinner, and perfectly suited to the purpose. And I now have 20-30 pairs of hinges for about the price of what two pairs would have cost at the hardware store.

Cisco Emas: They are good hinges for jewelry boxes. Comes with tiny screws which were a challenge at first to handle. Solution: pre-dent with a nail first. Walla goes right in. Thanks, good product.
